How many times has a new member or specific member only targeted one sponsor? Many times in this and other sites.
Why? Well cutting down or making false statements against the competition rather than making a better product is easier. This is politics gone forum.
Perhaps company "A" could create 7 shills with only 6 or 7 posts. Now they can attack company "B" since they are new members only looking for the truth . Maybe even start threads on a company for , well more info since they really want to buy it
Perhaps we should have a little game called "Pick the shill" ? I will create 5 fictitious characters around the world with different names. Perhaps they will own a Cayman or Boxster or not. Maybe they would only have their handle to go by yet still slide in as credible. All will be of this web site.
All created game Shills will be immediately released to any admin member of this site upon request and end the game, however lets have some fun. This would be fun yet educational for all.
NO time will these game shills slander any sponsor or cause harm to them, this is a game unlike the real ones.
Any interest in a hunt? All 5 winners will be very satisfied with what they receive in the end and ALL will receive 1 full year as a paid PCA Club member.
Best,
Scott Slauson

Unfortunately sometimes shills do visit this site but we do our best to weed them out and have done so in the past. I also think it becomes pretty obvious to regular members here who those shills are when every post out of their proverbial mouths is promoting some item or attacking some other item.
Actually I do not want anyone setting up shill accounts or duplicate accounts, etc. it is against the forum rules. As much fun as it might be to play "spot the shill" I'd rather have members spotting real shills vs. ficticious ones created for amusement purposes.
As always if you suspect a shill you can use the Report a Post feature to alert the administration to the suspected shill. Thanks in advance!
Who believes everything they read on the internet? That being said, this may be a good competition for us. (Per Ken's definition, not PCA-TECH's).

Reason: Clarification
Who believes everything they read on the internet? That being said, this may be a good competition for us. (Per Ken's definition, not PCA-TECH's).
Then consider yourself, and all other Cayman Club members, deputized. Fire away. If you see a post that looks like it may be a shill post, click 'Report Posts' and simply indicate that it appears to be a shill post.
You don't realize the attention that calls to a user/post. It calls all moderator's attention to it and automatically starts a behind the scenes discussion thread for just us. This club logs a lot of posts each day. It's hard for us to read every one of them. We sometimes miss some. So reporting a post helps us find the ones we should see.
So what's a chill, uh, I mean shill? Someone with a hidden agenda, usually a competitor or super fanboy of a competitor. Example. Let's say a sponsor starts a new thread to discuss a new product that they are offering, something really cool. Then, suddenly out of thin air a new member appears. One that no one has ever seen before. This new member acts like he is just an excited potential customer with questions and concerns. But his questions and concerns aren't objective and it's obvious that he'll never buy the product. Yet he just keeps asking these chilly questions that all hit on the weaknesses of the product or vendor. Often times these shills disappear as quickly as they materialized, as soon as the topic they are motivated to sabotage is gone.
These situations are not always easy to spot. That's why we need your eyes.
Once someone has been proven to be a "shill", then why not identify them as such? As long as their posts still appear in the forum, it might make sense to identify the shills by having the term "Banned for being a shill for XYZ corp" appear under their user name.
That way other users will know that they should be skeptical of the content of that user's posts.
