ATLANTA — Porsche Cars North America Inc. said Thursday its U.S. sales fell in October, led by slowing demand for the Boxster sports car and Cayenne sports utility models.

Total sales for the month fell 9 percent to 2,355 vehicles, from 2,588 in October 2006.

Adjusted to reflect an extra selling day in October 2007, sales fell 12.5 percent.

Cayenne sales fell 27 percent to 809 vehicles compared with 1,104 sold in the same month last year.

Sales of the Boxster fell to 178 vehicles from 361 vehicles sold in October of last year, while sales of the Boxster S slipped to 101 vehicles from 197 last year.

So far this year, Porsche U.S. sales are up 9 percent to 28,766 vehicles, from 26,397 at the same point last year.

Adjusted to reflect an extra selling day this year, sales are up 8.6 percent.
