Pic of the new closed-top caliper

Notice the cross bracings on the new black caliper? Unfortunately the reds and yellows still are not closed-top:

Why would I want it to be closed top? Rigidity?

+1. Cup Cars seem to squeal by with the heat dissipating, easy to change pads, "open" calipers, so they're probably up to my demands.

Do you own a Porsche dealership? More service dollars? The calipers have to be removed to replace the pads?

It smells like a cost cutting measure to me.

Some pencil pusher came to the conclusion that people who own cars with the base brakes don't track the cars.

I thought one of the greatest things about my new CaymanS was the ability to change pads without removing or tilting the caliper off the knuckle. I have always seen closed top calipers as being inferior. As Smounic said above, "why would I want a closed top?"

In the picture, the closed top caliper is at the bottom of the range. Seems to be right where it belongs to me.

Is that a front caliper or ? Base 997s? Same pad size?
I am checking with Pagid, this has me intrigued......

Base 997, Cayman S, Boxster S all use the same caliper, but what is this pup.....?

FWIW, the unique 8006 rear caliper of the 997 GT3 is a PITA - it has to be removed to change pads -
