Interested in buying a Panamera... hope you got deep pockets.

So there has been some preliminary pricing released on the Panamera. If you're looking to get one, I hope you have at least $127,000 laying around; $197,000 if you want the Turbo.

Y'all ready for this? Porsche Panamera will start at $127,000 - Autoblog

$127,000 well spent... well spent on an ugly box. Although, to hear a screaming Carrera GT V-10 and let more than one of your friends enjoy the ride as well would be pretty cool.

I honestly don't know where Porsche has thier head... probably up their @ss if they're expecting someone to pay $127K for the base model and nearly $200k for the Turbo. I was expecting around $70-80K for the base and maybe $110K for the most performance oriented version.

I'm expecting this to be an EPIC failure

I'd rather spend $55,000 on a C63 AMG and be more than satisfied with my 4 passenger sedan hitting 60mph in 4.3 seconds

Hey, then if I even wanted more power, I could use the extra $70k-140k I saved and send it to Brabus

Ouch!

Okay, knew it would cost. We spent $145K on the 911 TT last year and have been very happy. Was not looking for or expecting a racing machine.

Have a deposit for the 1st Panamera Turbo to be delivered (whenever) at a premier-level dealership, but that was before this new price estimate. Again, not looking for a racing machine. Quality of the Porsches across our extended family have been consistently high; can't say the same for BMW or MB's. That was a primary reason for staying with the marque.

$200K is crazy and not the good kind.

You know, I don't think I believe $127K for the base model. I'm not gonna get one anyway, but I'd bet that the base model will be closer to $100K.

Nutty. That's about 30% more than I figured. I am sure the Euro/Dollar is not helping.

I also have a deposit on one, assuming it would be a replacement for my M5. But it looks like I'll have to pay $200K to get something faster than the BMW-- maybe I just wait for the next M5 or take a closer look at the AMG "Black" cars.

Unlike the Cayman, where the 2.7 model is still a blast, the Panamera will need grunt to compete, so I fear the base model will be uninspiring.

Not too bad... I'd buy one. The MB CL500 (over 114k new) I traded for my Cayman was a total POS. To have a Porsche-quality ride in that size would be worth that, IMO...

Actually, that's about what a 4 door 928 would cost today, isn't it?

The bad news is, it's likely to have 928 depreciation as well.

Actually, it's about 2X (for Turbo), but still much higher for standard. 1984 928S MSRP was $44K, in 2008 dollars that's about $93K.

I recall the last 928's stickering for around $90k, in 1995. That works out to $129,000.

No turbo was ever available for the 928.

There's no way that could be right. I thought under $100k for the base for sure. Man if this is the price then I think our cls is gonna get traded for a newer one. For that price I can have a brand new cls550 and a new 911S.
