A friend told me he found a used Cayenne S, MY 2004 for ~$30K, still not sure about the options, but its black with sand beige interior.
The price seems fine, but I have no experience whatsoever about Cayennes, so I wanted to ask if there's something I should be on the lookout for? Anything I should check?

I've been thinking of getting a pre-owned Cayenne myself, and have been trolling Rennlist. The take-away is that 2003-2004's should be avoided. 2005's were a transitional year toward the better. And 2006's are, so far, proving to be very reliable trucks. CR mirrored this in their annual reliability report. I've seen 2006 Titanium's with 30K being listed in the high $40's on AutoTrader, so I imagine they could be had in the low $40's before too long.
I would stay away from the first year models, I would aim for a 2005 or 2006 where al lthe gliches have been resolved. Ray Catena gave me a 2008 cayenne as a loaner for the day and i must say its a great truck all around
I had a 2004 CS, there are many costly problems with them that were corrected in 05 and 06. I wouldn't buy an 04, and didn't want to keep mine after the warantee was up.

Sorry for the late reply. I have an '04 Cayenne Turbo. It had to have the airbag wiring redone on recall. I have had normal maintenance done. It occasionally burns some oil (nothing alarming, just check it and top it off.)
Other than that, it's been bulletproof. My out-of-pocket costs have not been for repair at all.
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I let it pass after hearing all the negative feedback about the MY04, hopefully something similar will pop up soon.
