"Connections" for factory visit

Hi All-

I recently was informed that I will be going to Germany on business next month and I thought it would be a great opportunity to participate in the Porsche factory tour while I was there. I checked with Porsche in Atlanta for availability for the couple of days that I would be there to possibly visit the factory. I was told that they were already booked and there is no way I could get a slot. After hearing this, I went to my dealership and talked to the sales manager regarding my situation. He committed to calling Atlanta to see if he could pull a 'favor' from them to possibly get me on the factory tour. No luck. He said that he was not able to get me in for the requested day (s).

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has any 'connection' or other idea for me possibly getting into the factory tour? I have a very limited window of availability to take the tour (first choice 9/22/06, second choice 9/21/06). I realize this is rather short notice for scheduling the factory tour but I'm just trying to leverage a business trip that I was notified about.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that any of you may have!

Tracy

Maybe some one else can help you, but when I was there a few years ago I was told I'd have to make a reservationaround ayear in advance. The woman gave me her card and told me to call her to schedule. I have theher card somewhere, but can't seem to find it.

ttsakai,

Don't go through a middle man. Call direct. Phone: +49 711 911-25384. Appointments can be made by telephone. I spoke to Sigried. Very pleasant. Don't know if she is still there but someone will answer. Just say Sprekin zee English, bitten (sorry for the spelling) and they will. There were about 8-10 people in our group. We met in the museum. If you can make it by all means do so. It was a great experience. The holy grail for me and my wife evenenjoyed it. Once in Stuttgart take the city train S-6 toward Weil der Stadt and get off at Neuwirthaus stop. I think it's the second or third stop. Can't miss it once you are on the train. Get off the train, cross Porscheplatz 1 and you will be looking at the factory and new car showroom. (I'm paraphrasing from my brochure here.) The museum is open from 9 - 4 weekdays Monday through Fri. Phone the Museum +49 711 911-25685 if you can't get through to the tour desk. Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know if you get an appointment.
