hey guys, I am driving down to north carolina tomorrow and will have most of a day for free time, before I have to travel to greene county the next day.

which city should i spend the day and sleep over at? what's better in terms of keeping the fiance busy and gettting some good food?

raleigh?

greenville?

I know very little of the area, so any recommendations are most appreciated.

The only thing is that the next morning, I have to drive over to greene county.

I don't know much about that part of the state, as I'm on the coast in Wilmington.

I don't think there's much of anything in or around Greene County other than a second-rate party school (ECU), a bunch of hog farms and a state mental hospital.

Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (the Triangle) is the metropolitan area sort of near where you'll be. With Duke, UNC, NC State and the capital there, you should be able to find plenty of restaurants, shopping and things to do.

Alternatively you could head down toward the water. There's a little town called Oriental on the Pamlico Sound that's favored by sailors. It's quaint, picturesque, and out of the way.

Raleigh is MUCH nicer than Greeneville. Great restraunts and plenty of shopping if your fiance is in to that. Streets of Southpoint also has the Bodies exhibit right now. Very cool!

I would be careful where I parked a Cayman overnight. There is a BMW factory in Greenville, SC and more than one person who did BMW's Performance Center Delivery (eg, picked their Z4 at the factory) have had their shiny new car keyed overnight.

So I would recommend park the car where it can be seen at night, particularly if you are staying at an inexpensive motel.

True anywhere in the country, I guess, but the internet images of those keyed BMW's is stuck in my head.

I think Speed Racer was asking about Greenville, NC. But you are right about parking. I'm particular about where I park in any town.

And Raleigh is probably more interesting than either of the two Greenvilles.
