Here's a stretch of road that I like to blast on every once in a while - It's a 2.5hr drive from Dubai (where I live) but it's very worth it.
It's about 35kms long and a rock face on one side and a drop to the ocean on the other - it's perfectly surfaced, no plod or cameras and very little traffic.
That's really magnificient! The rock formations are breathtaking. Driving the Cayman on that road reminds of the slot car tracks I had as child. What a thrill that must be! Thanks for the pictures.
That looks like a race track with one exception, no runoff. The barrier walls testify to the light traffic. Man, if that road were going through the Smokies, there would be rubber and paint all over those walls. Fortunately it's wide and the traffic is sparse. It's interesting to see what other guy's "secret roads" are. Especially roads so far away.
Tro - head past Ras Al Kaimah and keep going until you hit the UAE/Oman border - that's when 35kms of uniterrupted motoring nirvana takes place get to the end, turn round, do it all again, get to the border, turn round again and have another go - repeat until your wheels fall off!

I presume this requires crossing into Oman & taking one's passport along?
Did see that somewhere else....or maybe all roads in Dubai are as great...Wonder if the contractors would consider working in the U.K....God knows we need some good twisties...
get yourself a Driftbox and you'll be able to plot your route Google Earth. It does a whole lot of other things (logs speed, g-force, altitude... measures 0-100, 1/4mile etc)...
i dont know whether it's just me or what, but in UAE it seems that all the roads are in excellent condition and they also have very interesting twisties.
i wonder when LA will have that kind of road.

The roads here are the best I've ever driven on.... I've seen them re-pave roads that were PERFECTLY fine to start with!
Don't wait for LA to do it... just move to the UAE :-)
