We have a new Home! |
|
Nov 06, 2008 - 10:21 PM - by K-Man S

We have a new website home today! I had mentioned in the past that we were going to be migrating to a new host and I had fully intended on giving everyone a heads-up as to when it would happen but it didn't go quite as I expected. Last night the server migration was started and the planned scenario was to have it complete overnight, test the new server this morning, make an announcement of downtime and switch to the new server and host. Unfortunately, something went wrong overnight at the old hosting site's server and it bombed out while transferring the site to the new host.
This morning I was faced with the dilemma of either bringing the old host site back up and finishing the transfer process or leave the old site down and continue the transfer (faster) until the new site was ready. I chose the latter since we were down, what the heck was a little more time added to that going to... [Read More]

Croctoberfest Recap - Grace under Pressure please Hold Your Fire... |
|
Oct 08, 2008 - 4:08 PM - by K-Man S

Croctoberfest 2008 – Another one in the books. Wow. Where to start? It might be helpful to start with last year’s Croctoberfest in Las Vegas. One of the things we learned was that hosting such an event is a LOT of work. After last year’s event I vowed to tap into additional resources to make this year’s event “easier” to host. I specifically wanted it to be easier on my wife who had really worked a lot of extra hours last year. I tried several ways of delegating the work load, some successful – employing the assistance of Porsche, and some not so successful – relying on volunteers to call on sponsors for their participation (something I eventually had to take over and complete myself). I think those who attended will understand me when I say that I am in recovery mode at the moment.
So what about the event itself? Let... [Read More]

Croctoberfest and Excellence Magazine Article Contest! |
|
Sep 23, 2008 - 10:44 PM - by horizontally-opposed

Hello all,
Ken and I have been conversing about Croctoberfest and I must say that, well, I am impressed by the docket.
The reason I am writing to you is to ask for your help. My shoe-in for a story will be completely booked for the week or Petit Le Mans and, due to his commitments, will not be able to cover your celebrations.
I do, however, think coverage in Excellence is merited. Thus, I would like to try an approach I've tried on very limited occasion with other car clubs, I think just once or twice: initiating a contest among club members, with the best event story going into Excellence and its author becoming "published."
Last time around, three brave souls took on the challenge. As I recall, all had fun with it, and were ready to accept defeat with no hard feelings. One story was the clear winner, and made it into the book. The others... [Read More]
