Front plate?

I have read other threads on this topic, but I am curious about your experiences in Illinois...anybody been ticketed for not having a front license plate? I saw one Cayman parked on the street with a plate visible in the front window, lying on the dashboard deck on the passenger side.

It's for sure against the law, and I've heard of people getting pulled over for it. But my dealer says that 90% of the buyers do NOT put a front plate on.

Hope this helps....

I haven't been in IL very long, but I have this to say:

I don't think the Fuzz will mess with you much unless your messing around in a bad way. I'm from Missouri and we are "supposed" to have front license plates, but I used tp around with a euro license on the front for months, and many now without any plates. And I've NEVER gotten bothered by it.

My suggestion if your worried is to keep it in the car somewhere and if you do get pulled over about it, just say it fell off and your on your way to get screws to fix it back on or something along those lines and they should leave you alone without a warning.

I've lived in IL my entire life and have only received tickets for parking without a front plate. I do not have front plates installed on any of my cars but I do keep a front plate and plate mount with suction cups on it in case I am parking on a city street (which is rarely with the CS).....I've seen the "magnet method" done on other makes, not sure if it could be done on a Cayman or not see Plate Mount link below
