Site Width to 1024?

Currently the site width is set to 800 pixels for backward compatibility, is there anyone here who can't support 1024 pixels? If not, then I'd like to widen the site a bit and use some of that prime screen real estate.

I agree, go for it....

One thing I've noticed is that when someone posts a picture, if it's wider than the default width, the makes the entire page as wide as the picture, rather than scaling the picture to fit... does everyone else see that or is it just me... I'm using Mac OSX (10.4.1 actually) and Firefox.

I can handle the new widyh just fine. However, I have the same picture width problem with Explorer. Is there a way to make sure pictures fit without you having to do a ton of work?

Repeat after me, picture width can be set by the person uploading the picture. After they upload it comes back to a preview of the picture where the size can be adjusted. When people forget to do this and the pictures is huge or side by side I've gone in and fixed them, but it is really up to the person who posts the picture to scale it appropriately within the forum. When I fix the gallery it will auto-scale images upon upload and create thumbnails, but the forum uses different code and gives the user the ability to adjust picture attributes. The person who posts the topic can also go back and EDIT their post to edit their image sizes too. Hope that helps!

That is because someone uploaded a picture into that thread and did not resize the image so it is the image that is pushing the width too wide for you. Not the site.
