Archive Availability?

There are some interesting threads that drop off the end of the date range (30 days old = not visible?). Because I have seen them, I know what to search for to retrive them.

I would like to be able to read through everything back to the beginning of time though, because there were undoubtably many great discussions before I joined the site. These dicussions may have been on topics I did not know I was interested in, so I do not know what to search for to retreive them.

Any way to have an archive area (even with lower bandwidth / availability restrictions / etc.) that we could look at?

The site, BTW, is great - a fantastic resource!

If you go to the Display Options at the end of a forum you are given the the choice of how far back you want to go including "beginning". Is that what you need?

Another way, go to User CP, click on Options, go about 2/3s down and change Default Thread Age Cutoff to whatever.

One of my favorite forum features is the "similar threads" list at bottom which as well as being handy for showing threads with matching keywords has a date which shows when threads are from time wise. My theory is if the subject line of thread from "new threads" search is interesting enough to read, I generally also look at 2006 a& 2007 threads that show up below as well. As a new user, I only cruised back through the previous 6 months when joining forum so I find this technique a way of seeing some of the really early threads.

Ahhhh! The joy of being part of a knowledgeable community! Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted. I never looked at the display controls, assuming that they were just for sort order. Well, I have a few days of reading to do, gotta go....
