In a stunning move today Porsche has decided to cancel all further Cayman production. CEO Wendel Wouldbeking cited the primary reason as 'exclusivity' but insiders believe it has more to do with the Cayman S turning better lap times than its big brother the 911 at various track events around the world while in the hands of new owners. Production has stopped at car #4001 and cars not yet delivered to customers are being held at port to be raffled off to the highest bidder and proceeds donated to various charities.
Existing Cayman owners are estatic about now owning one of the best cars in the world and soon to be one of the most exlusive. Porsche dealers were less enthusiastic as the Cayman had boosted their sales by nearly 50% since January. 'I'm going to have to let some of my people go go go' stated one dealership sales manager who did not wish to be identified. Rumors of Cayman delivery problems began late last week as cars due in at dealerships did not arrive as scheduled. A final batch of cars were delivered on March 31st just prior to the April 1st deadline set by Porsche.
