Sometimes I get asked "how many hits does this site get?" which in this day and age isn't really the question that people ask anymore about websites. Back in the day when pages were static as was much of the information, then a page hit meant something and often times people counted hits as hits to every element on a page, but anyway I digress.
What a lot of people look at today is what Google analytics produces and in that regard our latest Google report showed that in the last month, even with a nearly 22 hour downtime on April 3rd, we exceeded 1 Million page views yet again!
So if someone asks, tell them "More than a Million page views a month!" and you'll be golden...

Yeah; I'd like to know what the number of unique hits vs. all hits is, screened by IP. It's still not a perfect test due to dynamic IP's, but a better measure.

I fell asleep last week in front of the keyboard and my head kept hitting the mouse and the right click. Man, when I woke up and realized what happened I took a look at my browsing history and I had gone through 47,000 pages. Cleaned up the drool, had a shower, grabbed a beer and went at it again.
I think I accidentally ordered a whole bunch of stuff off the site sponsors too. Sort of like that thousand monkees with a thousand typewriters scenario, but different.

Ken referenced Google Analytics as his tool in the first post, so I can answer this. Non-human traffic (spiders, bots, etc) are filtered out of the results for Google Analytics. The application makes it's best attempt to only count human interaction through javascript/cookies, etc.
