slow loading....

K-Man S, not sure if anyone else is having the same issues as me, but caymanclub seems to be getting really boggy on my pc. Its not my connection, other sites are fast as usual. its even worse at work, but I have DSL there vs. Cable at home. Seems like some topics take forever to load. Are we eating up too much bandwidth?

There have been some random slowdowns in the last couple of weeks, but usually they are linked to lots of people being on, videos or large files being downloaded, etc. I'll check into seeing if there is anything that can be done about it.

Every time you post, it east up 36K because of your sig. If you post 10 times in a thread...etc. If 10 people are reading that thread, that's 3.6 MB right there assuming they were all downloading the thread at the same time. There's one guy who has an animated avatar. All these images eat up bandwidth. I imagine this site is going to continously get slower as more people use it.

There are a number of forums online that I belong to where individuals have sig's tremendously larger than mine on caymanclub and I have absolutely no problem navigating these sites rapidly. Also, once a page has loaded, even getting back to that same page takes some time in most cases....so....you may have a point, however i think itmay bemore likely due to another variable.

FWIW...if deleting my sig would speed caymanclub up for everyone, then i would be happy to do it.

Can't tell your gender since your profile doesn't indicate one way or the other. It's certainly far statistically safer to assume you are male given the general demographics of this website.

Keep in mind other sites may not have as many active member on at one time, or be hosting large videos that are getting downloaded concurrently, etc. Even for me sometimes I geta slow response, other times the site is very speedy. Whenever it is slow I look and see a lot of people on, or several people doing file downloads, etc. I'll check with the host to see if there is any more HP that can be applied to the site to speed things up. At some point I can make a software conversion to help speed things up, but that might be a bit painful and cause some site downtime so I want to avoid that for as long as possible...

K-Man S, I mostly use the Active Topics link, which sometimes appears to go from 15 active topics to 1. I guess this has to do with the refresh settings of the web page. During this refresh period, the site seems to become very slow.

I would like to echo other folks' concern about the speed of this site. It is very frustrating to see how slow it is. I rarely find it anything but very slow. And sometimes I find it hopelessly slow. Pages load so slowly I close out of them before they're even up. Any improvement you can make would be wonderful!

Its not a problem, I get it all the time both in my job and on Porsche forums.

Perhaps we should have a pole to find out how many female members there are here.

I don't think it's the images that are doing it. Those will normally get cached after the first viewing.
I would guess the slowness is from the database or the software because I will sometimes go to a thread and the site will just spin waiting to process my request.
Once the request gets processed, the page normally comes up quickly.
