Active users

K-man, any chance you can add info on the number of active forum users to the Site Stats? I would be interested to know how many different logged in users we per week and how many of those post as opposed to just silently reading.

While you are at it, I would love to see a link that would let you see the threads that you have participated in. Occasionally, I just want to track those. Sites like dpreview.com have a link called 'my threads' that does it.

smounic you can always search your own name to see topics you have posted (sort of crude but it works).

And the number of active users can be seen at the top of nearly every page with the Online link and the Guests numbers both shown.

I think he means in addition to that, a sort of weekly stat counter with a complilation of how often a user logs in and how many posts they've had for the week, on avg, for the month...etc.

If you look at a person's profile it gives you stats on their average postings, as well as the last 10 topics they've posted to. Login numbers can be somewhat 'artificial' with the use of cookies and certain browsers so it isn't necessarily a good representation.

We have something like 2000 users, I was just wondering how many of these 2000 users logs in once a week /month and how many don't. And of these users what fraction posted in that week / or month. I would just find these numbers more interesting than the 2000 number of people who have registered.

There are these stats at the bottom of the forum page:

Since everything is in a database I'm sure it could be sliced and diced a number of different ways, the only issue is my time to sit down and write a piece of code to do it...
