Signature Sizes? And a suggestion or two.

Is there a signature size limitation? I haven't tried to post one yet, so I don't know.

I've always been a fan of signature limitations though. Banner sizes like 600 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall are typically good. I know vBulletin supports it.

Another cool thing some vBulletin software supports are signature badges. These are little graphics assigned by certain people to represent different things. They are not put into a signature by the the board member, but typically a Moderator.

We use them on www.s2ki.com to designate which local community someone belongs to or whether that person is good at car care, audio systems, forced induction, photogrpahy, photoshop, etc....

We also have "Community Organizers" who take lead roles in the local forums to promote meets and the community in general. It would be great to see that same sort of idea make its way here - the "Zones" seem stagnant. Maybe changing the names from "Zones" to names that depict the area could help too?

Last thing Ken - I know you're still in the process of building this site, but before you call it finished, take a look at http://www.s2ki.com. In my opinion it is the best setup vBulletin site and has its own look and feel in every aspect. I'm not vouching for the content, but just a place to grab some ideas from. I haven't had my S2000 for a long time, but I am still a moderator there because I love the site and my local S2000 community is incredible.

I just clicked on "edit signature" and saw that there is a size limitation of 500 x 100 pixels. That answers my first question.

I did a quick look at the site suggested above. The look and functionality of the s2ki.com site is very nice, except that it has in my opinion one of the most annoying "features" with the the banner/ads in the middle of threads. What ever you do Ken, don't but banners/ads in the threads separating post.

Signature photo size limitations are controlled by what group you are in. I don't have all of the groups set up yet. Getting content over from the old site as well as features/functionality take precedence over user groups and minor items like how big of a signature photo someone gets.

As for zones, no those will stay named that way because of the PCA association, PCA calls them zones, so we have to as well. Now I do concur that it would be nice to have more folks step up to help moderate, etc. and become community organizers, but we aren't there yet in terms of number of people or number of people interested. S2ki has been around for 6+ years now, we are just a little over a year old, go back and look at the S2000 site in its first year and you'd have to agree that it paled in comparison to this one after the same amount of time.

I can look into things like signature badges etc, but again that's far down the list unless someone else (hint hint) wants to champion it and help get it set up.

Sorry - S2Ki is set up on paid memberships. If you are a paying member, you don't see the advertisements. I've been a paying member for over 3 years, so I forgot about the ads.

I didn't think about the PCA zones - that makes sense now. I joined S2Ki a little over 3 years ago, so I can't vouch for the differences in the first year, but it does seem like you're doing good things Ken

I'm here to help
