Would it make any sense to add a section under FAQ (which is really slick) for all of the Porsche designations? One of the things that has frustrated me is how folks will throw out the Porsche model designations (964, 993, etc.) but I have to go out and research on wikipedia or somewhere else to decode.
I actually printed out the 911 section on wikipedia for reference, but it might be helpful to others to have a decoder section.
The suggestion wasn't really for you to write it, just to post back with the specifics you would like to see added so we (Chows4us, Racerboy and I) don't have to do the research. For example, post back to the FAQ area something like:
Quote:
I would like to see this added to the Acronyms area:
964 - Porsche 911 model from 1989 through 1992.
993 - Porsche 911 model from 1993 through 1998.
996 - Porsche 911 model from 1999 through 2004.
986 - Porsche Boxster Model from 1997 through 2004.
Even if you don't know them, that's OK too. Just post something like:
Quote:
I often see these acronyms used and am not sure what people are talking about:
964, 993, 996, 986, 997, etc......
There are so many folks on this board that know the answers and will gladly define them.
If you guys could do something like that, it would help out a lot. Any one of the three of us could add that to the list pretty easily. But if we had to write it from scratch, it would pull us from the other FAQs we are writing. I have been researching the steering wheel options for my next slew of FAQs.
My apologies if my previous invitation for help was not as clear. Please don't be intimidated. This is a chance for anyone and everyone to leave their mark and help build the site. Don't be afraid to speak up. You're input, recommendations, suggestions and opinions are very welcome.

I have added a few to the Acronym Draft List. Keep making suggestions for additions. It's a hassle to keep updating it so if we can collect a good list of additions, add them and then update that would be great.
Take a look at what I added so you don't have to write them.
I took a look at the draft acronyms and they look good to me. The only one I have on my list that wasn't there was the 928 Land Shark and that might be overkill.
I was thinking of adding 928 and 944, but everyone knows what those are. Maybe I should add them just in the interest of completeness.
Hey guys, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to merge this thread with the main FAQ thread. There is some good stuff here and it should be grouped together.
Thanks again for the additions and anyone is welcome to add suggestions right here.
