I've got 2300 miles on the Cayman S so it was time for the break-in oil to go. I took a few photos in case anyone else was interested in using ramps. The 12,000 lbs Rhino ramps fit the back 265/40 tires perfectly with no overlap. 8 quarts for the full drain and the level is on the top line.
The only problem I ran into was a stripped drain plug while trying to tighten it to 50 Nm. The plug feels like it's made of paper! So I guess the spare plug from Suncoast came in handy after all!
That white Cayman belongs to Retired-Teach who came out to lend a hand. And yeah I know the wheel chock is on the wrong side!

Stupid me stripped the hex head on the bolt when I put it back on. I realized the problem immediately and took it right off before I put any oil back in. Even with the ramps, space is tight and I didn't have the hex bolt completely in the drain plug. The bolt was in a torque wrench and I kept turning it waiting for the click that never came.
I'm not crazy enough to strip the threads on the drain pan yet, but I have heard stories of that happenng.

I did the same thing when changing my oil. Threads are fine, but the head is a little stripped / rounded off. I hope I don't have problems taking it off when it comes time for the next change.
I'm using the 8,000lb Rhino ramps and a jack as backup. The plastic just doesn't give me enough of a warm fuzzy feeling to crawl underneath without backup.
Ah, yea, duh, should have thought of yet; you took it off before putting in any oil I definitely concur, order an extra drain plug for oil changes. I should have changed it when I did mine. - Suneet

I changed my oil this weekend as well, whereas if I would of taken some pics, they would of been almost and exact copy of yours. Including some trouble with the drain plug. I forgot to put a new washer back with the drain plug, which resulted in oil leak. Thank God I noticed it and managed to do a quick swap with the spare plug/washer I've ordered from Suncoast. I managed to let only about 1/2 quart of oil out during the swap of the plug, however I do have to agree that it is very easy to strip the thread on these plugs. They are definitely disposable.

Thanks guys. Now I don't feel like such a dope with the drain plug. Time to order some extras from Suncoast today. Does anyone have the part # and price of the filter housing handy too? Might as well get and extra of those since I'll be paying for shipping.

That would be mine. I went along for the ride to see how its done. Seems pretty easy, you just have to be careful putting that disposable plug back in.
