For those of you that can't make the Zone 1 gathering at Lime Rock on 4/26, there will be another local Porsche run fun event on Sunday 4/27.
Date: Sunday, April 27th
Time: 8:00 am
Weather: Beautiful driving weather in the 70s.
Meeting Location: Usual Palisades Pkwy Rest Stop @ Exit 5 or a place to TBD closer to the starting point in Poughkeepsie.
Tentative Route: Poughkeepsie --> Kingston
Approx. driving time: ~3 hrs.
I'll be at this event since I'm always scouting for new driving roads and may even get some data for a CaymanClub Zone 1 run down the line. The pictures posted from their fall run showed some amazing scenary.

LSD - Limited Slip Differential
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

dont know if anyone of you guys are F1 fans but that day there is a Spanish Grand Prix viewing at a Ferrari dealership in Edison New Jersey. They host two races a year and they usually have a pretty good turnout, F430's, a murcialago, some older ferraris etc. They usually have pretty good food and they offer 15% off the gift shop stuff.
just throwing it out as an option in case you wanted to try and tie your plans in with this as a ending or starting out point. race starts at 8am and ends at 11.

I met the organizer of this run at the Exotic Rally over the weekend and got some more details.
It'll only be about 20-30 cars and we're sticking to some real out of the way backroads on the way to Kingston. Better make sure you arrive with a full take of gas!

I didn't have a car last fall so I didn't go to this one. How was the group? We people going at their own pace or was it filled with hotshots?
Not much of a road burner myself, but I fell in with a bit of a fast group and had to pay a lot of attention for the next two hours. The fall event had tremendous turnout (50-100? cars).
I would recommend it, the organizers are cool. Great choice of roads. I really enjoyed it...
