I went yesterday with my buddy to the SCCA AX event here at Devers AFB.
What a HUGE area. I have never run such a long AX course. They are saying other clubs are running even longer configuration. It was freakin' cold and it rained part of the time, so being a corner worker sucked big time. I would say 75% of runs were not clean at all.
Organization of the event lacked big time, partially because there was shortage of experienced AXers who could show the newbs the ropes, partially because everyone was rusty. We only got 3 runs. Sucks when you pay $50 for an event.
Anyone who was running slicks had horrid time. They could not hook up at all.
I was running my stock PS2s, so it wasn't so bad, though I had to fight my oversteer.
I had a chance to meet Joe, one of the coordinators from
PCA NCR region (he ran some great times in his 924) and couple of AX-nuts who gave me some awesome tips about which events to go to and which to skip. Sounds like in the end I will not be joining SCCA.
There was a good share of people approaching me to talk about Cayman (there were not Boxters or Caymans representing).
