Jophus, I live at 81 Washington Street in Dumbo. Not far from your office.
I've been trying to get to some of the Zone 1 activities, but it seems every weekend I have some family obligation (first communions, etc etc...) that takes precedence. My weekend calender is full until June. At least I get to drive, since my family is spread out in PA and MA.
south brooklyn, you'll have to excuse me because i'm crazy but yes i LIVE in south brooklyn (marine park area) and work in downtown brooklyn. i say excuse the crazy in me becasue i dont know if you are referring to downtown brooklyn as south brooklyn.
i know a lot of people refer to the brooklyn heights/brooklyn bridge area as south brooklyn but for the life of me i have no idea why and no one can give me a straight answer about it. on a map its north west brooklyn so im lost. if you arent referring to downtown brooklyn as south brooklyn then disregard my rant as i am nuts. if you are then maybe you can solve my mystery.
and ps it must be nuts driving the cayman on the cobblestone disasters that are around your place no?

Thank you to the old people who put no miles on their porsches and trade them in.
I am also confused when people refer to Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens and Red Hook as "South Brooklyn". You aren't crazy. All you need to do is look at a map and it is clear that these neighborhoods are not in southern Brooklyn. Go figure. I usually refer to my neighborhood as "downtown Brooklyn" since Dumbo is a silly name and not that many people know where it is.
I go real slow on the cobblestones in my neighborhood, anything else would just be asking for trouble.
btw, I am going to try to get out to the Metro NY autocross at the Nassau Coliseum this Saturday. Not to compete, but rather to check it out for future reference.
