Euro side marker install on Cayman S

Got bored today and decided to finally install my clear side markers. The whole process takes 5 minutes with no tools required. It probably took longer to download these pics. Thanks to Pistol Pete for the lead on the lights.

Very nice!! I was just at the parts dealer today because I need a clip for the interior taillight cover, but I also asked about clear side markers. He said no problem and might have them for me by tomorrow.
But you said no tools required. I thought a little screwdriver or something is needed to release the clip?

Press the button behind the marker and give a slight tug. It truly is that easy. Suncoast is selling the lights for $29 bucks. Its a great inexpensive mod.

The price from the dealer is about the same as from suncoast, and this way I can check them out first and not wait a week
So by press the button, do you mean that little black round thing in the wheel well? I was under the impression that this was a cap that had to be removed and then something inserted to press the clip that holds the marker in.

I don't think so. I just pushed and tugged.

Hey littlebulldogg, when did you start painting your nails or did you make your better half do the work? Either way, not good!!

You're welcome on the lead.

The little round button on the wheel well comes out with a little prying using a flat blade screwdrive. Turn your wheels all the way for better access. Once the cap is off, you can stick a screwdriver in to press the clip and pull on the marker at the same time to release it.

Truth be told, I had a hell of a time getting the clip pressed right. So I ended up pulling on the marker and the assembly came out with the clip a little bent. No big deal, I just reshaped it to match what the clear side marker tab looked like. I don't expect to ever reinstall the amber ones, but if I ever do...

Anyway, the new ones will then just snap in. The other trickly part is the spring release for the bulb connector. Don't try to pry on this, just pull back on the clip and the connector will release.

Any chance of you making it to Long Island this Sunday bulldogg?

thanks Pete. I have read that article several times, but I thought maybe bulldog found a new and easier way. Either way I can't wait to install mine. Maybe I will have them installed before sunday. If so, it'll be my first real mod, not counting painting the shift pattern.

LOL...I just made her hold it for the picture. I looked at the directions on the suncoast website and didn't see them pull out the little button. I assumed the button needed to be pressed. It took 5 seconds. I think me and the misses are in. I will know later in the week.

I agree that this is a great and inexpensive mod, especially for a white Cayman.

I am seriously not mechanically inclined and it took me all of 5 minutes to do both sides, and 3 of those minutes were spent scratching my head trying to figure out how the spring release on the bulb connector worked.

Just installed the euro side markers. Not hard at all, but required a bit more force than I thought. I was also surprised at how little slack there was in the wires. But now it looks so much better!!
