Some of us are finalizing registrations and plans for CroctoberFest this week thanks to the special Porsche "surprise" for early registrants.
For those of us going from the Zone 1 area, we should think about doing a caravan!
Given the distance, my plan is to make it a 2-day drive with a stopover in Virginia since this is the halfway point.
I'll leave around 9AM from the NYC area on Oct. 1 and should get to VA in time for dinner. On the 2nd day, I'll get to Atlanta in plenty of time to check in and get ready for the evening events.
I'll do the reverse on Sunday and don't plan to particpate in the AutoX. I'll probably watch a few runs however before hitting the road.

I just checked Mapqust and it directs us further west in North Carloina using I-77. I did a little research and there is a hotel in Blacksburg, VA which is about a 6 1/2 hour dirve from the hotel in Atlanta and about 9 1/2 hours from where I am on Long Island. I'm open to suggestions as to alternatives.

Looks like a plan is coming together thanks to Gonzo!
It'll be a 14 hour drive from the NY area to Atlanta. We'll probably have the most energy on the first day of driving so we'll do 8 hours or so of road time. That'll put us in the Blacksburg, VA area for the first layover. The next day will be a quick 6 hr drive into Atlanta.
On the return trip, 8 hrs will put us in Harrisonburg, VA, right outside Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. We'll stop for the night here. The next day we'll head onto the park and Skyline drive for some twisties.
If you're thinking of joining us, please PM me for the specific hotel and route information. Gotta be careful nowadays with publicizing where a group of Caymans will be! (CroctoberFest excluded)
Members in Connecticut or further north that plan to drive, please post on here so that we can coordinate.

Lots of police on Skyline Drive. It's a nice drive but watch your speed.

I was thinking of somewhere off I-78 also. One of our caravan members lives right off of I-78 so I'll defer to him to find a good meeting point for us.
