So who's going to NNJR Porscherama at Pocono Sept 13-14 besides Pistol Pete & I? There's truely something for everyone, Rally, Concours, DE, AX and time trials. Hundreds of awesome Porsches and a bunch of fantastic people haveing a ton of fun.
Those dates are also the dates for the PCA Club Race at Thunderbolt in south Jersey. Its going to be really hard to choose.
PCA - Porsche Club Of America
The Porsche Club of America - http://www.pca.org
CaymanClub.Net members who are also PCA members should request access to the PCA Member only forum by filling in their PCA Member ID# into their profile and then requesting a group membership addition, both of which can be done in the User Control Panel (User CP)
Tough choices for the viewers there, Club Race or the Cayman Club members on the track. The way Cayman Ken and Diverdog are progressing, they'll be in Club racing very soon!
Oh yeah, I think I see Cayman Ken registered for the DE now, can he confirm???
By the way, Porscherama is a huge event @ Pocono and anyone can attend even if they're not driving. Sign a waiver to get into Pocono Raceway and the track facility is yours to explore.
The main sponsor of the event this year is Ray Catena Porsche and I'm sure they'll have a fleet of cars there for you to test drive. This event is where I first test drove a Cayman way back in 2006.
We'll also have a huge dinner party at the track Saturday evening. Tickets for this dinner are $35 per person.
Definitely worth a day trip out to Long Pond, PA.

That's right, Thunderbolt is the weekend before. I'll probably head out there to watch and check the facilities out.
I was planning to attend Thunderbolt with another CaymanClub member, but since he's on the bench for the rest of the season I decided to skip it and attend Porscherama instead.
Thanks a lot Teach!!
That's OK, a 3-day commitment was a bit much for me at this time anyway.

Cayman folks---don't forget that the NNJR picnic is Aug 10-must preregister by Aug 5. Same web site that you register for DE. There is also a concours at New Hope, PA on Aug 9. The concours is being run by another group, but there are supposed to be a good number of Porsches at the event.
There is also a concours workshop on Aug 3-this one focused on interior cleaning. I am going to attend. It is is NY. If you need the address send me a PM.
So this is your first event? Get ready to be hooked.
I'm taking that Friday, 9/12, off from work to head out to the Poconos in the afternoon to beat all the traffic. There'll be a registration and small party at the track Friday evening after 5PM.
Saturday AM you have to be at the track bright and early @ 6:30AM for tech inspection. NNJR will email you a "track-pack" with all these instructions very soon.
I see that you're also local to Staten Island. Let me know if you want to drive out there together on Friday.

NYcayman, which activities will you be participating in? If it's the DE there are a couple of things you need to do in advance. You wll need an approved helmet. I strongly suggest you go to a good race shop to get one that fits correctly. In North Jersey I would suggest Stable Energies. I don't know where a good shop is in NY. You will also need to get your car inspected. info on that will be in the track pack. You can go to the NNJR sponsored inspection for free or have it done at any any place on the approved inspection list. Many Porsche dealers do it for free. Don't forget to bring the completed inspection form to the track.
Be prepared to meet a lot of great people that will be happy to help you. Keep an open mind & you will have a ton of fun. fun
Thanks diverdog, I can only post so much during work!
NYcayman, if you're doing the DE event, the tech inspection (free) will be on Monday 9/8 at Audi of Bernardsville in NJ. I'll be off work that day (again) and will head out there from SI.

NYCayman, if you're doing the DE or AutoCross events, the club will have some loaner helmets available if you don't want to make the $300 or more commitment to getting a Snell SA2005 rated helmet.
However, if you go the loaner route, I highly suggest you get a balaclava like this:
