Zone 1 Cayman Club run to Thunderbolt Raceway, Sept 6, 2008
NOTE: I will not be able to ATTEND!!
Thunderbolt is a brand new racetrack in southern NJ. Several NNJR-PCA and CaymanClub members (diverdog, Cayman_Ken)will be doing a 3-day track event @ Thunderbolt Raceway in Millvile, NJ on Sept. 5-7.
Here is a direct Google Maps link to the track location:
There is no charge and you don't have to be a PCA member. Just sign a waiver to enter the track paddock. Just to be clear, we're just watching and hanging out at the track, NOT driving on it.
The most direct route is via the NJ Turnpike so we'll probably setup a meeting point at the Molly Pitcher rest area right after exit 8 southbound. Everyone should plan to meet there between 9 and 10AM on Saturday.
Let's get a list together of interested folks.

You can check out Thunderbolt this weekend AND visit Porscherama at Pocono the next weekend.

I was at Thunderbolt the other day doing some testing and both tracks (Thunderbolt and Lightning) are really nice. The Villas and some of the planned facilities are not yet built and there is a good deal of construction activity. One thing to be aware of is the flying dust generated by the earth moving equipment. Periodically it's like driving through a cloud and requires an awareness that the track is changing with each lap.
Let me know what you and your friend's car numbers are and I'll make sure to get some action shots of you on the track.

Depending on the number instructors and available time, we may be able to get a ride along during an instructor session. Of course you'll have to sign a bunch of waivers, but that's why we're here, right?
There's no better way to get a view of the track then sitting in the car with an instructor. Bring an extra pair of shorts too if your prone to "accidents"!

I have already driven both Thunderbolt & Lightning. This track is fun! You will have a good time there. I'll see if I can make this run; not sure. Still need to find another set of wheels to put my street tires onto. My track tires are still on the car at this point....

I had that same expereince a few weeks ago, i had to laugh as i remembered the post.... Hempstead Tpk, Levittown. Wasp on the 944 driver window... still hanging on heading north on Rt 135, 90-95 mph,, ... i think he flew away as i was braking to take the last exit onto Jericho Tpk East exit... Definately 'not the man' for me....

Pete, sorry no can do next weekend. I will be at Porscherama on Sat. On Sunday of that weekend I'm going to the club race at Thunderbolt. Did you see my post on the Rolex Race that is at Thunderbolt this weekend? There will be Porsche reserved parking in the infield, but you've got to get to the track really early. You enter the infield by driving over a bridge. Once there are cars on the track, they will not allow any cars to cross the bridge.
Yup saw your post but I won't be attending. Too much $$$ on events, gas, tolls, etc. HAHA, gotta be realistic with Porschrama coming up too. Just spent some more $$$ on Pagid pads...

Pete, I really want to go to the Rolex race too. Saw a Daytona prototype car at DeMan Motorsport at a tech session. Unbelievable machine. Also need to save my pennies-I want a set of BBS forged wheels soon. See you at Porscherama if not at the normal club meeting the Wednesday before. Remember that the Panorama guy is coming to talk photography. Might be a better session that last time.
