Ezmoney put together some maps of our route. With a large group, the chances of getting separated increases. It would be a good idea to print one of these and bring it with you, just in case you get off course.
Here are several options for you. Pick one you like:

I drive up in that area quite often, and would be happy to assist in route planning. (the Peguins will be a hard act to follow!)
Rt 55 and 55A around Roundout Reservior are spectacular and not crowded at all. Rt 52 from Ellenville to Pine Bush is also very nice. Also, Rt 55 through Minnewaska State Park is great, especially the hairpin turn.
In anycase I'd be happy to take some scouting runs up there in the next few weeks.

Pete I'm in. After the job you did Sunday, and how much fun it was, I don't think anyone would want to miss this one. The Minnewaska state park area is very nice,as Mutant Tuna mentioned and the town of New Paltz might be a good lunch spot. Nice little college town.
I'm curious, but does anyone here have an "insider" contact at the Mohonk Resort we can possible work with?

I'm helping Pete with this project. I was a rock climber in that area for 6.5 years. I know the town very well. There are lots of places to eat there but I think we we have to stay clear of the town of New Paltz. The traffic in town is horrible to say the least. Parking on Saturday for a bunch of cars is not possible.
We are considering a place outside the town called the Mohonk Mountain House. Hudson Valley Resorts & New York State Hotel Accommodations – Mohonk Mountain House
It is a truly amazing place. I'm sure our resident photographers will be able to get some shots worth putting on the CC calendar. There is plenty of parking there and scenery that is breathtaking.

That's right ezmoney, I've been soliciting help from folk(s) that I know are local to the area and can help with the route.
Don't worry if you're not contacted (yet), that just means you get to enjoy the ride more with no pressure!
I definitely appreciate all the offers for assistance however so keep them coming! ezmoney & mutant tuna have the route-scout roles covered right now.
Right now I'm looking to see if anyone in our diverse group has contact info for the Mohonk Mtn. house. I'm thinking of possibly arranging a concours-like parking layout somewhere on their grounds.
