One of our Zone 1 members, someday, has put together a great run over the back roads of Northwestern NJ.
We would like to invite everyone to join us on Sunday morning, Sept. 21, for this twisty drive and lunch afterwards.
What: NW NJ Ramble
When: Sept 21, rain date Sept 28
Time: 9:00 AM
Start: Lafayette Pond parking lot. Located on RT-15, 0.1 mile past the only
traffic light in the village of Lafayette, on the left if you're heading
North (41.099458,-74.690824) Hard to miss!
Length: 100 miles
Time: 3 hrs...or less!
Finish: Lafayette House Restaurant in Old Lafayette Village
Navigation: GPS or Route Sheet with turn mileage
For now, here's a short preview video of the route (note the PERFECT road conditions, not a single pothole to be found):

I'm calling this a "self guided" tour in the hope that the participants will break up into small, 3,4,5 car groups in an effort to break the 20 to 30 car "freight trains" we had at the last couple of runs. I think everyoue will enjoy the run more without the accordion effect, risk of loosing the main group, being separated by local traffic, or just gettig lost.
If the groups leave anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes apart they should still end up at the rest stop and finish pretty much together. This will still afford the opportunity to BS, which we all enjoy!
Navigating the route can be done with GPS or with a "route sheet" and your odometer. This info will be posted later.
For lunch, you'll be on your own. The Lafayette House can handle a lot of people and the food is good. Again, small groups will be easier to accomodate.
Come on out and give it a try!
Regards,
Don
OK everyone, less than 2 weeks to go and no one is interested besides V_man?
For the New Jersey Zone 1 members, this is the perfect drive for you. You can avoid any of the bridge tolls and the NYC traffic.
You've seen the video, not a pothole to be found and there's plenty of parking at the stopping points.
I've been avoiding using my brakes in order to save them for my track event this weekend. I promise that for this run next weekend, there will be no danger if you end up in front of me, I will drive like a normal person, don't be scared off!!

VGM911,
Looking forward to meeting you and welcome to the club! The turnout looks to be small but the weather should be fantastic. With a small turnout I can lead the group so no one has to navigate. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
I hate to cancel at the last minute but I moved furniture yesterday and I'm paying the price for it this morning - my back is killing me. I've got to give it time to rest and recover. So sorry, guys.
