I also saw a yellow S in Rocky Hill a little while ago on RT3 while I was pumping gas in my CS at the Mobil station. I know he saw me because he was stairing, but I don't know if they are a member either?
Mark, Did you register for the Tech Session yet? I have the form but haven't sent it yet, are you interested in carpooling to Danbury? I plan on going for the day but heading back before dinner. My CS is put away for the Winter and don't plan on taking it back out until the first of April.
I did a PCA autocross school last fall that was a lot of fun and might go back for more. I did pretty respectful considering it was my first time. I also did a DE event at Lime Rock in November that was a lot of fun too. I have done track events for 3 years now but most were in my last car and all were at Watkins Glen. I didn't think I was going to like Lime Rock because its so much shorter than the Glen but it was a good time. I you haven't tracked yet, imagine being able to drive your car as fast as you can and not have to worry about getting stopped and if anything haveing your instructor pushing you to go faster still. Its great. The chief instructor for Tracksmasters would always say the the average person could only drive their cars 30% of what it is capable of being driven at. Its true.
I bought my CS in West Springfield at Fathers and Sons. I had a Volvo S60R to trade in the they beat Hoffmans in East Hartford by $12k. This is the 4th car I bought from Fathers and Sons and I highly recommend them. Jeff the Porsche service manager is a Porsche owner too and a good guy, very helpful.

I didn't even know there was a registration form available? Where did you get it? What is the date and time? I am sorry I thought it was still up in the air!
I also have had bad experiences at Hoffman trying to buy/lease cars there. Over the past 10 to 12 years I have helped people buy about 150 cars (no lie and I have become friends with some dealers).
I once was working on a lease on an A4, the Valenti Family and I put together a lease price well below the $349 national advertised price (that Audi does to move cars) on a better equiped car, but the girl wanted to service it at Hoffman and really wanted a silver car (Valenti didn't have any incoming and there weren't any to swap for in the area with the equipment she wanted), so we went to Hoffman, after I talked to a sales guy (the sales manager refused to talk to me on the phone) on the phone to lay the ground work and see what he had for inventory, we got there and they presented her and I with a lease price that was $75 a month more than we agreed to on the phone for a car in stock and the manager's reasoning was that the car was silver and Valenti didn't have a silver one, so if she really wanted silver this was the price!!!..........
Before that, several years prior when I had a Corrado SLC, and went there personally to look at a car, they offered me $5,000 less than what I traded my car in for at another dealer. We're not talked about someone playing a game with instead of giving me a discount they showed me more for my trade, this was what they ACVed my car at!
Sounds like you had a similar situation with your S60R! Which I drove a few times and thought was a really nice car for the money! How reliable was it?
What tech session. I never heard more about this event? I am a PCA member. When is the session.
I have CS. I live in New Haven county. Look forward to meetin people.

All the info is there including the registration form you have to download and fill out and mail back. I am going just for the day, not staying for the dinner or night. $35. includes lunch.
I really enjoyed the S60R but I was doing a lot of tracking with it and I was afraid it wasn't going to hold up. Volvo made a car that was supposed to compete with the M3 and S4 but it really didn't have the power. I had around 50k miles on it and decided to trade it in while it still had some value. I looked at the BMW Z-4 M coupe and the Cayman S. Hoffman offered me $12k for the Volvo which was an insult and no discount on the Cayman. Fathers and Sons advertised all 3 of the Cayman S's they had in stock, each with a sticker of about $67K, for $59K flat. Since I bought the S60R their, they offered me $21K for it. When all was said and done, I saved about $12K going to Fathers and Sons compared to Hoffmans. Thats a hell of a lot of money. I got a call from the salesman from Hoffmans a few weeks later and he said maybe we could make a deal if I came in, so in I went and showed off my new Cayman from Fathers and Sons.
Looks like we should have a get together come spring. I see a silver Cayman everyday in Cheshire near where I work and I met a guy in my town yesterday morning at the local Starbucks in a Cayman.

I do look forward to some autoxs and perhaps a DE though I don't know about warranty implications and how much a PITA and cost for the pre/post track inspections. What did you pay for the inspections? Did you buy a helmet? Any warranty issues come up because of cooked rotors or anything? I obviously can afford the car and to service it, but I just honestly don't like paying for something knowing that I am getting screwed (like $250 oil changes)! I enjoy negotiating a lot of things in life (it's fun) and I also like knowing I get a good deal on things (I know its stupid, but that's me!)
I used to do a lot of driver training (autox's) as part of my job at Pirelli, one summer when I first started I went all over the country doing it (great thing to do at 22)! I got faster than a lot of SCCA regional winners (we raced for a lot beers and pride), but that was a long time ago! I also have driven on Las Vegas, Homestead and Road Atlanta for doing Porsche launch and Pirelli events.
zedd06 & Jayman,
I look forward to everyone getting together with their cars! I also have emailed back and forth a guy that has seen my car in Westerly, RI a bunch of times and he seems to be up for a get together!
Take care,
Mark

thanks for the link. i look forward to meeting everyone this year
Mark unless you are doing a lot of DE events and are pushing the car to the limits I doubt you will have any issues with the car. Guys doing 20 DE events a year are making upgrades to their cars because they are trying to squeeze just a little more out of it, not so much the car can't hold up. If you are pushing hard and are thresh hold braking a lot you might want to consider track pads which of course are hard on rotors but that is something you can do yourself pretty easily. Not much harder than jacking up the car. Same goes for oil changes, I do my own for less than $70. I love to do as much as I can myself, its part of the fun and you start to learn the mechanics of the car.
Yes you need a helmet and there could be a few spares at a PCA DE event but why not get your own. You can get a decent Bell for less than $400. I got my SCCA regional competition lic last year to I have a complete nomex suit, gloves, socks. Manditory and inspected before a race. As for inspections, get the list of approved inspector and call, I tried one garage in Waterbury and they said since the car was so new they wouldn't charge me. I ended up going to a guy in town here at his house and he didn't charge me.
