My understanding is that there's new money involved with the new NH track/club, Club Motorsport. It's been a nasty battle with 3-4 locals with very deep pockets and hi-priced lawyers. A LOT of locals, starving for work, showed up for jobs, but it's still jack knifed.
Meanwhile, Le Circuit Mont Tremblant, just north of Monteal, is BY FAR the best circuit in the area, with a possible nod to Watkins Glen. It's been completely rebuilt, resurfaced, and there are about 200 of the best French restaurant in North America within a 15 minutes drive. The Glen is a bit longer, a bit faster, but in rougher shape and very unforgiving in comparison. They're both the same drive from Boston (7 hrs). The local
PCA chapters run lots of events at both.
Then there's always Lime Rock, only about 3 hrs from Boston, but while better than NHIS it's pretty small, very lumpy, and has some particularly dangerous spots. In the rain it's lovingly refered to as Slime Rock. But the surrounding area is beautiful and you might even get a glimpse of Paul Newman!
And in about a year the Drive and Race Club should be finished building their private circuit in Monticello NY, which we're guessing to be about 5 hrs from Boston. That could be huge. It's being billed as 'private', but so does the Mt. Tremblant facility, so we'll have to see.
Finally, my understanding is that the new road circuit in NJ is just about done and should be online by mid season, but I don't have many details on that right now. Pick the time of day well and you might make it there is 5.5 hrs or so (towing), not too bad.
