The wife and I are headed down to Naples in about a week for seven days of sun, old people, and sand. I was wondering if there might be any Naples-area folks who frequent this forum... and if so, what advice they might have for a tourist.
Of course, I'm curious about the typical stuff (restaurants, best place to get a margarita, attractions), but it would also be neat if anyone knew about any car shows or like events down there.

Last time I was there, Pizza Hut and McD's closed at 9pm -- sidewalks were rolled up shortly thereafter. The sno-birds are home for the summer, May is the slowest tourism month, bring a book - enjoy the solitude.
Bars - try Marco Island. A couple of great restaurants on Sanibel Island (near Ft. Myers): Mucky Duck & Oyster House. Bubble Room on Capitiva Is (may be gone as of last hurricane).

Thanks for the tips. I'm honestly not that much of a bar person, but I'm sure that my wife will drag me to every restaurant she thinks might be good. I have my book ready to go, as well as the required pre-sunburn pasty-white skin.
I know there is a good sized Porsche dealer in Naples (as well as a few other high-end brands), so I'm hoping to run across some nice cars. You have no idea how many 18 year olds in Mustangs I see here every day. Add to that the standard residual depression of a midwest winter, and you'll understand why I'm excited to get down there for a while. Who knows... maybe if the town is deserted, some hungry Porsche salesman will make me an offer I can't refuse (there is a black Boxster on their website that makes my heart pitter-patter).

Not a bad plan... Just as our "convertible season" is about to end, yours is ready to begin. End of model year...end of month...who knows?
