Question about Insurance

I just bought my car and it will be my first car that I will insure myself. Previous cars were insured under my parents. Anyway, I've been shopping around and my best rate is ~$2200 a year (Geico).

Just wondering what the best rate you guys have gotten and with what company?

I'm 25 and have had to minor speeding tickets, the 1st was in 1999 and the second one was in April 2006.

$592.30/6mo at Farmers here in California. 24, no speeding tickets on record, pleasure use, buncha discounts (home insurance, multi-car, engineer discount, persistency, good driver, etc.).

Congratulations on your new car, I also got a white CS.

Are you serious, OMG?!!? Do you think my quote is way too high and if so what should I do? $592 seems unreal, if you don't mind me asking whats your deductible?

Our insurance company Farmers also offers home insurance for $50 a year but it reduced all auto insurance by 15% (if I remembered correctly).

My deductible is $1k.

Your quote might be high to me, but we are in different states and you are buying insurance on your own. Did you clear those 2 tickets or are they in your record? If you search the forum on this topic, everyone was surprised how low are their insurance rates.

What you pay for insurance has a whole lot to do with where you live - comparing insurance prices in Miami to those in LA is like comparing apples to mangoes... you should post the same question to the zone 12 (FL) forum if you really want to compare apples to apples... I can move this to zone 12 for you, if you'd like...

I haven't inquired about Geico's rate for me, but it may be the cheapest well known company for many of us. I pay less than $500 a year for the CS with Nationwide, but I think I get just about every discount possible. When you shop around, consider factors other than cheap premiums. There're usually reasons for cheap rates. Geico doesn't have local agents, for example, but their operators are sitting by the phone waiting for your call. Rates are high for young unmarried males with moving violations, so you know what to do; age, marry, drive safely, insure multiple cars, etc.

Thanks, that would be good. New to the forum and didn't know that was a specific section for Florida.

Esurance Esurance Esurance! VERY nice rate, considering I am not even 30 yet (though married). I had one of my cars totaled while parked (chick with more money than brain ran into the car and then decided to drive off), they took car of everything without a problem.

I heard about Esurance was great, my friend uses them and just had to file a claim and had no problem...he also told me that they have the lowest rates but for some reason they quoted me a high rate but I'm going to try again

I'm by U of M. Try to stop by Absolute Motoring, they're a sponsor near Dolphin Mall. They have a Techart kit on a white Cayman and held a poker run a couple of weeks ago.
