Hi, everbody. I am planning on ordering an '07 Cayman S, and I just spoke to the internet sales manager at The Collection in Miami and he offered me 5% off MSRP. Has anyone been able to do better in South Florida? If so at which dealership, and who did they deal with?
If anyone is also planning on ordering a Cayman, and want to try to get a better deal with me by ordering them together let me know.
you probably wont get many responses with this thread since its been covered many, many times. my suggestion is do a search and reply with a new question that has not been covered before, relative to price.
I was able to get 7.5% off an '07 order. It was not very hard. I made the offer at a three dealerships in the upper midwest. Two accepted. I picked one and put a deposit down. One dealer was not the least bit interested, his take was that he could make more money on that allocation by selling it to someone else.
Champion will usually beat The Collection and The Collection will usually beat Champion. So go get the best price out there. I dealt with Scott Kraus from Champion
I ended up getting an offer of 6.5% off MSRP from The Collection, and asked Jim Pappas the internet director at Champion if he could beat it. He said they couldn't on an ordered car, and the best they can do is 6%. So now I'm going to see if Braman can. If not I'll be ordering the car next week.
I was able to negotiate for an 07' Cayman S order that totaled about $69,300with all my options and the destination charge, for $63,742.20. That is a discount of 8% off of MSRP. Deals are out there. The way I did this was I found a national dealer who gave me a good deal in writing, then contacted my local dealers and showed them proof of my offer. Only then did they start to drop their prices for me. Before that they were telling me they could do $1K off, etc. Put in the work and you'll get a terrific deal.
Thanks I'll try that, however, the car I want to order has a MSRP of $62,535 so they may not negotiate much lower since there is so few options. Which dealership did you get 8% from?

You're MSRP is almost $7K below mine, so I don't know if you can get as deep a discount, too. I also had a connection as my barber is a good friend of mine for many years and he has a good friend for many years who is a salesman at The Collection.
2thM: What difference does it make whether the price includes options or not? Markup from invoice to MSRP is exactly the same for every option, and just about the same for options as for basic car. So, no matter what the MSRP is, and what it includes, dealer margin is always the same. In theory, no reason why a dealer would give x% discount from MSRP on one car, and some other percentage discount on another car. Of course, other circumstances my be different from one transaction to another.
Fredyy, I understand that dealer margin is the same, however the dealer has to make a minimum amount of profit on each car to cover operating expenses , etc. On a car with more options they would make a profit on each option ordered therefore making a greater total profit on a car with more options than with fewer given the same percentage off MSRP.
TheArch: What was the name of the salesman that gave you 8% off MSRP? Do you think he whould do the same for me? Thanks
2thM: See your point. If dealer's objective is a specific dollar amount of profit per car, and MSRP goes up faster than "invoice," he can offer larger percentage discount on more heavily optioned car and still make same dollar amount in profit (assuming his other expenses are also measured in absolute dollars). But my experience with cost accounting is that other expenses are usually allocated as a percentage of a base amount ("invoice"), so that dealer's objective would be to raise the sale price by a constant percentage as well. This would allow reduction from MSRP to be the same percentage for each car, no matter how it is optioned. Of course, I am never surprised when my arithmetic is correct but my reasoning turns out to be faulty; maybe dealer's do think in terms of absolute profit dollars rather than percentages.

Bobby Puri is his name and he's a very nice guy. I don't know if you will be able to get 8% off but I know for a fact he will give you the absolute best deal that he can to sell you the car at The Collection. I would recommend dealing only with him, before I was referred to him I dealt with another guy who gave me nowhere near as good a deal.
good afternoon all, my personal experience has been that Champion is a better choice. The first Porsche I had was a Boxster I purchased @ The Collection the amount I paid was not that great a bargain. On my second purchase an 08 cayman S I decided to give Champion a shot. What I enjoyed about the purchasing process was that it was smooth no haggling involved and a very good deal on a new 08 purchased Nov 12 07!
Ofcoarse the sales person from the collection told me I should have given them a chance.... Well I did; this last Feb I told them I was in the market for a Cayenne...' what could they offer me ??' The offer they made me was no where near what I wou d up getting it for at Champion. Note, I did not play one against the other, I simply asked for a price 'the best one they could offer'. Also I found the level of professionalism at Champion to far exceed that of the Collection. On a footnote; it kind-of makes sense Champion's Porsche inventory is easily 5 to 1 when compared to The Collection. Had I elected to by ' collection' I would still be waiting for my Cayenne. It only took me 2 weeks with Champion. More cars>better people>better deals!
