About to get Cayman. How much under MSRP did you pay?
I am about to go in an get the deal done.
Napleton, Exchange, and Loeber each have 1-2 Caymans that are to the spec.
Anyone could share with me what deals you had or seen recently. All of them are non-s Cayman equipped around $55K. Is asking 10% off MSRP too ballsy at this time of the year?
Are they '06 or '07 Caymans? For an '07 that is a little too balsy. For an '06, you might get your wish. If you search around the purchasing forum, there are lots of threads that give discount percentages from certain dealers. - Suneet
I got my Cayman at Loeber so if you decide to go there I could put in a word for you with my salesman and maybe he can help you get the best deal.
Same here...got mine at Loeber as well...I got about 5% off this past March when I ordered my car, I thought it was a decent discount, especially since the car was recently released...however with it being near the end of the year, I would shoot for 10% off and go from there....Hubert Banasiuk is the salesman I worked with...really nice and fair...
All I did was check all the dealer sites in my reach, and started calling, found what I wanted. Got 4000.00 off MSRP. Never look back, That was a great deal for a car like this, some day I will have a garage full of Porsche's
I just ordered mine today and was able to get just under 9% (8.7) off. I've been really happy with Faris and the Porsche Exchange.

In Seattle they do not Discount the Caymans very Much.At least not certain desirable Colors and packages.I got a black on Black with Chrono and all I could get was $1,500 off MSRP after 2 months negotiating with 7 Dealers all the way to Portland.Traded a Totally tricked out RX-8 in they sold the same day for $5,000 more.. such is life .Seeing my cayman in a delivery showroom when I came to pick it up made it all worth while !!!

I've always had the thought that this may be because of the proximity to the Canadian border. It may just be us Canadians causing you all the problems.
When I searched for used caymans I found the further south you went, the more plentiful and better priced the cars became, and it seems like dealers are more flexible with the price on new cars as well.
If you look on Autotrader today you will find a used 2008 Cayman base model at Roger Jobs Porsche (Bellingham) with preferred package and 6,000 miles listed for over $55,000. I think that might even be more than the original MSRP! But to a Canadian buyer that might seem like a relatively good deal and may be why they are pricing it that high. They probably have no intention of selling it to a US buyer.
I figure the extra Canadian demand will trickle up to new cars as well. Although it shouldn't be possible for a Canadian to buy a new Porsche I had a conversation with a Porsche salesman in California and it sounded like it wouldn't be any problem at all.
I live in Colorado and had to order mine (December Build) so I think had better negotiating power since I doubt they sell many in January-February around here (when they say it should arrive).
If I go off MSRP (meaning the base unit at 59,100 - Cayman S), I received about a 9 percent discount. If I go off of how I configured it (Short Shifter, PASM, Floor Mats, Sport Steering Wheel, Bi-Xenon, Sport Chrono, Wheel Caps), I got an 8% discount.
They also will throw in a free clear bra (They said this cost $795, however, I think $300 is more reasonable).
Good luck!
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
