Just curious how many are without front plates in the Maryland region. And for those without, how many have been pulled over.
In the last PCA meet, I'd say 70% of the cars there did not have front plates. But then I've got to think that and officer shooting radar, would look for the front plate to reflect off of and as a result pull you over for no plate.
Just curious as I'm on the fence! I've got the tow hook plate but it looks out of place.

Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
I'm running without a plate in Annapolis area, but just got stopped for not having a plate. I 'lucked out' however, as I didn't have my registration in the car, so I got a $40 fine for that instead of a $60 fine for no front plate.
All that said, while driving up Rt. 97 today, my wife stopped counting cars with no front plate when she reached 20. (She wasn't looking at the rear plate, so some of those could have been from PA or DE, but the vast majority are almost certainly from MD.
IMHO, I think a law like this that isn't federally applied, is just another way for a jurisdiction to make some bucks.
I've have no front plate on my CS (since July) and have been stopped twice by the security at the base I work at (and then it's only been at off-peak traffic hours - they leave you alone during the morning rush). My wife has also been stopped at Quantico for no front plate on her Mini.
I've had no problem with the regular police, at least not for the front plate.
I'm not in your area but our politicians took up a bill to require a front plate this year. A bit of digging found that it was sponsored by the company that sells those speed/red light cameras. It was amended to exclude 2006 and back plates but I'm not sure what the final outcome was. But it seems about out of state companies not safety or enforcement in NM. If passed the 2006 exemption will make my Cayman worth more....
No plates since 2 weeks ago, had my Cayman S since last year - got my first damn parking ticket the 2nd day i took my plate off - forgot to put my plate in the windshield, and the meter maid noted that wasn't displayed in my windshield or the front bumper - ticket in DC at meter (doh!)
I have the plate and bracket in the trunk so if I get pulled over, then I will put it on. Otherwise no problems, I live in Charles county. All of the Officers down here are into cars so all of the nice cars down here have no front plates. Whenever I pass an Officer they give me the thumbs up. Benefits of living in the country When I used to live in Montgomery county I got pulled over everyday for being hispanic and driving a nice car or tint or too low or too loud exhaust. Whatever I hate Mont. Co. Sold that house and moved down south, More land bigger houses, Half the price, more $$$ for my porsche.

I have a front plate, but only because the dealer had had installed the front plate mount before I ever saw the car (I bought off the lot). I would have preferred to make a custom mount that attached underneath (so the screw holes wouldn't show) or to use the tow hook mount, but oh well....
I don't have a front plate simply because I think it makes that gorgeous front end look tacky and cheap with it on. However I keep the mount and the plate in my front trunk, so that if a cop pulls me over I can say that my plate fell off and I was headed over to the dealer to get some extra mounting screws or something. But I'm sure the cops up in Balt. County will understand why the plate really wasn't on there
