I believe the percentages allowed for our type of vehicle in Maryland is 35% all around. I'd say call one of the tint shops to verify. Also, not sure if you know this, but don't settle for cheap tint either. The cheaper tint will fade over time so spending a little extra up front will save you in the long run.
As for the imperfections, I noticed things like; a few tiny bubbles on the corner of the window (caused by dust particles trapped between the window and tint), tint around the dots (around the perimeter of the windows) aren't perfect. These things are typical of even the best tint jobs. They are also hardly noticeable even up close unless you're looking for it.
My advice is, if you have a shop in mind, drop by the place and see what kind of job they do and make sure they take care of their cars as they will, more than likely, be using a knife to cut the tint (unless they are using precut tint).

Hope this helps and good luck!
