Which zone should I join (for PCA)?

Hey all... I live in South Jersey, work in Philly, and frequently visit the PA and DE suburbs. I know that there is a new road course being built in Millville, NJ, which makes joining the Zone 1 Schattenbaum (South NJ) chapter an attractive option (nice to have a track in the "home zone"). But it seems that there is more activity in the Reisentotter (sp?) club based in Philly.

Anyone belong to either of these chapters? Any experience with joining a chapter that technically isn't for your home address? Does it really matter? I think I read that you can go to any clubs driver's ed. and AutoX days, so it probably doesn't...

Thanks in advance!

Lil Gas Passer,

I joined Riesentoter (RTR) which is my home area. There seems to be an active membership. In fact, the Lambertville rally's have been set up by an RTR member and quite a few members participate. The more Caymans the better, so I would welcome you to RTR.

Riesentoter (Giant killer) region is one of the Zone 2 (Mid-Atlantic) regions. Check out the pca.org site and it shows how the country is divided into geographic zones. Each zone is made up of regions (smaller geographic areas) that some refer to as the local club. Shattenbaum is in Zone 1 (Northeast), as you may know.

The path of membership is to pick out the region you want to join. It is not necessary to reside within that area and some have dual memberships in a primary and secondary region.

Riensentoter (Philly area) is one of the larger regions and may have more events than a smaller one. You may want to attend some events in both regions to see how they fit for you.

As for DE's, once a PCA member you are welcome at any regions. In fact some regions do not even require the car be a Porsche.
