How do points work in Virginia (speeding)

I am the recent lucky recipient of a speeding ticket in Va. Fortunately, it did not put me into the category with the multiple $1000 add on fee. It turns out that I had had +3 good driver points on my record. The ticket gave me -3 points so I'm back at zero.

Now the question is, when the insurance company looks will they see that I have 0 points and say I've been good or will they notice the loss of three points and possibly make 'updates' to my account?
