I bought my Cayman from Tischer Porsche in Silver Spring in part because their service department had generally positive reports. Since my car is only 5 weeks old, I have not had any exerience with them yet. Previously, I had routine service done on my Boxster at Len Stoler and while they were not inexpensive, I have no complaints about their work.
This might be silly but I put Tischer on my personal do not use list. I work and go to school full time so I handle almost everything via email and I can't stand it when I don't get emails back from companies and I've had about 0/6 come back from Tischer. Before I got my CS I even emailed them and said I wanted a new blue S4, maybe RS4. You'd think that would get thier attention -nothing. 6 months later an independant company called and asked if I was happy with the service after requesting a quote and they seemed surprised when I said I never heard from anyone. I've emailed parts for a price on a set of wheels, service for prices on some work, service for recommendations for wheels/tires, the dealer to ask about an event they were having and nada. I dont use them.

I've been calling area dealers for pricing on an oil change--my CS has 8,000 miles at one year of age and I don't want an inspection or servicing, just the oil change. So far, Rockville Porsche wants $250 for an oil change and recommends that I have them "service" it for a whopping $750. Tyson's Corner HBL Porsche charges $269 for an oil change. I keep playing telephone tag with Tischer and don't have their price yet, but am leaning toward an independent Porsche specialty shop where I suspect the price will be $100 less. If you join the Zone 2 PCA (I'm in Potomac) their publicaitons have lots of ads for good specialty shops.

Just got Tischer pricing. they seem downright reasoanble at $196 for an oil change, including tax. PCA members get an additional 10% discount. They also mentioned a special servicing mentioned for cars driven less than 9,000 miles per year--$330.

I'd recommend Tischer for service ... I'd be curious what they charge for service. Please post if you can.
It depends upon what your talking about. The OP is asking about the 2 year/20K service. That is a lot more money than an oil change. Further, at 2 years you need to have the brakes bled. See the FAQ The Cayman Club - FAQ: Questions & Answers

Thats too bad, your loss. Tischer is the nicest set of people. The service manager is great and the sales people great. I suggest you just pick up the phone and do business. Actually talking to a human being is so much more satisfying.

what is the "special service" I drive it less than 9000 miles a year..
I wish that I had asked him to specify. Tom Veihle is the Service Manager; you could give him a call and I'm sure he'd explain. It seems to me htat he said it was something Porsche had recently issued...
