I live in Reston/Herndon area. Does anyone here have experience w/ Porsche of Tysons (HBL) or Porsche of Arlington (which is closer to my office)? Areas of interest are price, customer support, service. Seen some good and bad write-ups about both dealers.

Am I better off looking in Maryland (Rockville or Tischer in Silver Spring?). Pretty flexible about what I am looking for - likely a 2.7 model with xenon, heated seats, 18" wheels and bose.

Ideally would like iPod and satellite radio but looks like that's next year. Full leather interior would be nice but so far I have seen only a handful of vehicles in person with full leather. May custom order if I can't find what I want.

Thanks in advance - look forward to having my own Cayman rather than drooling over others'.

Suggest that you may want to call Josh at Porsche of Roanoke. I have an 07 CS & a friend in NC has an 08. Both were build to order at a +/- 10% discount from MSRP. Nice people to deal with & worth the drive. I get service at Euro Classics in Milothian,Va. They lost the sale because I got jerked around on price.

I had a good salesman at Porsche of Tysons, but don't remember his name. I came very close to buying there, but the only car they had in stock with sports seats was a 5K mile demo, and I really wanted a new one. However, they do support the local autocross/DE community (or so I have heard), so if you're in VA and going to track or autox your car, might be a good place to start.

I bought from Porsche of Arlington. The sales process was okay, no pressure or other sales shenanigans, but no huge discount either.

I had a bad experience with a salesman at Porsche of Rockville. I won't go into details, but he was a bit unprofessional.

I've had good experiences with Tischer Porsche. I don't know about the actual sales experience at Tischer, since I didn't buy my CS there, but their parts department is helpful and they give a pretty good PCA member discount. Also, back when I had just started thinking about a Cayman, months before I was ready to buy, I stopped in one afternoon to just browse their lot -- I ended up talking with a salesman, and was invited to take a test drive after explaining that I wasn't ready to buy yet. Also, Casey Parkin, a salesman at Tischer, is a member of this forum and a good guy to deal with.

I would recommend HBL over Rockville Porsche. Their prices are usually better, since Rockville is a very small dealer and hardly budged on their price when I was looking to buy.

In addition, the service department at HBL is second to none, they will give me an appointment usually for the next day, while Rockville Porsche would give you one for a week later.

Another advantage to servicing your car at HBL is that they will give you a FREE loaner, even if you didn't buy the car from them.

I have been using HBL for service on my Mercedes and Porsche, and have never had any problems with them.

I'd recommend Tischer. Great experience (except maybe the part where they tried to charge me 3x what Suncoast would charge for an oil filter)

Other than that. Great bunch of guys. They even started up a GT for me. Needless to say, jaw dropped and drooled all over the car.

Have done some internet inquiries and gotten very quick responses back from Porsche of Arlington and HBL. I am wondering now whether I can actually lower my price point. Choice of either a CS (grey w/ tan seats) with 4k miles (PNA-driven) at one dealer or a new black/tan 2.7 with preferred pkg and 18" whls at the other dealer for $50k. Sounds like there might be further room if that's what they are offering just on the first try. The lousy economy may be a blessing in this regard! Thanks for the comments, gives me more confidence in at least 3 of the 4 DC dealers (I'll skip Rockville). The Roanoke option may be intriguing..........
