I was hoping to have a nice ride like that on Sunday and instead ran into a gazillion bicyclists. Maybe next time. How did you hook the camera up like that?

I usually do the mountain runs during the week. I'll pm you next time we get ready to go. Just went a couple of weeks ago.
I got the camera mount info from someone on this board. I can't remember who it was, but I ordered all the parts from ExpressMounts.com for less than $50 and it works great.
Ok, I found out the mounting info posted by STLPCA (see below)
Ordered from ExpressMounts.com (under $50 delivered)
Parts:
RAM-B-231U (stainless U-bolt base w/1" aluminum ball plate)
RAM-B-202AU (aluminum 2.5" dia plate w/camera thread w/1" ball)
RAM-B-201U-A (aluminum 1.75" short arm w/double 1" dia socket)
RAP-319U (plastic U-bolt adapter)
........... and instead ran into a gazillion bicyclists.........
I have found that after running into the first couple, the rest of the gazillion become quite agitated and a very dangerous mob . They tend to scratch the paint as well.
I know that was bad, sorry, just couldn't resist !
Chops - glad to see you had a nice drive. No one's put together a local group day trip since early in the year when we all met at Orton......... That section of 129 is the best road I have ever driven (Gee, it looks just like the picture in my sig!; thanks to Kaiser Sozay from that earlier trip); Tail of Dragon and Mullholland included. It's just a blast!

I will have to agree and I've done the Dragon several times myself.
When you take that turn at Turner's Gap and hit the first passing lane, that is the best 7 min. outside of a track you can have. The best part it's right in metro Atlanta's backyard.

I'vd had my Cayman about three weeks and ran across this post. I drove there this morning. All I can say is unbelievable...what a rush. I only have about 500 miles on the car but when I came upon a new Shelby Mustang we both let it rip a little - it is clear the Cayman is much more capable than my driving skills. I mostly just cruised the scenery is beautiful. Took some pictures of the car:
This looks like a great run - we may have to include it in the Rock'n'Croc 3 event next Spring. Looking at some maps and Google Earth, it looks like this could be combined with the Richard Russell Scenic Highway (a great switchback climb I've done once, about 8 years ago) and Rt 180 to Suches, capping it off with an ascent of the Brasstown Bald. This could be done either before or after roads near Highlands and the Dragon.
For you guys that are more familiar with this area - does this make sense? Are there any good places to stay and eat near there? Thanks.

Just to confirm that you are looking at the right section of road, this is a section of 129 between Blairsville, GA and Cleveland, GA. You could get to it from Highlands via 64 and turn south outside Murphy, NC, or it looks like you could head down 23 and cut over from there. My guess is that it's around a 90 minute or so drive from Highlands, and about 2 hours from the south end of the Dragon. Helen is the "tourist capital" of the area, with plenty of hotels and restaurants. While Cleveland, Blairsville, and Young Harris would also have reasonably appropriate accomidations, but nothing special as far as "attractions" .
There are some more great drives off 129 in that area, and you could probably spend the better part of a day in that area. I've got a map at home that we used on our run earlier in the year that I think Kaiser Sozay had put together, so I'll take a look at that when I get a chance and note some of the other roads in the area that you may want to incorporate. I think that trip included the section of 180 and 60 near Suches you noted.
I hope I can join the drive in the spring!
Regards

Looking at some maps and Google Earth, it looks like this could be combined with the Richard Russell Scenic Highway (a great switchback climb I've done once, about 8 years ago) and Rt 160 to Suches, capping it off with an ascent of the Brasstown Bald. Daughter Kelly and I took the downhill run on that road after we left the R'n'C 2 scout team in Highlands. Uphill is the way to go. There is a lot of traffic on this road and no third lane for passing on the downhill side. We were tucked in behind 4 slow Harleys and a minivan.

Hello..........While I dont have a Cayman (strange story behind that), hopefully you'd not mind an extra on the forum. (I probably know a few of the locals that are on here)
Wanted to introduce myself and say hello, and offer up that on any nice weekend, if a drive into the N.Ga mountains is-in-order, please let me know. (heck this weekend will be nice)
(I head up on Sundays early....leave the Chevron@400@9am to make the total route w/o traffic......favorite route is up 19/129 to NGap, north then rt on 180, down 348 towards Helen, left on US17 and north back up to the very end of US180 and make left.......then US180 (pass BrasstownBald..etc) all-the-way back to Suches and down US60) Nice long drive hitting all of the roads.

That sound quite similar to some of our routes.
I bet you and my buddy Terry would have a lot in common. He has a 996 C4S and used to own a Pantera.
We usually make our mountain runs during the week, eat lunch in Blairsville or Helen and wind our way back. We leave about 10am and get back about 3:30
I'll pm you my email address. Hit me back and we'll see if we can't hook up sometime.
