2008 Blue Ridge Boxter Summit - May 29-June 1

I am in Asheville NC and was cruising the web today and ran across this web site for the 2008 Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (formally known as BRBS 10).

Blue Ridge Boxster Summit 2008 - Participants and Friends

I have never communicated with this group, but the event is just a short drive for me. Incredibly they have over 80 cars already signed up and almost double the number of people.

I see other cars attend as well, including Caymans. However, the Q and A section sort of hints (but does not come out and say) that you must have at least owned a Boxster at one time in your life, even if you drive another Porsche now.

I would not mind to join them for a day or so, because May-June in the Blue Ridge mountains is incredible ( I know, I live here).

I wonder if the Zone 3 coordinator would like to make contact with them and either have them advertise here, allow us to join or something.

Would anyone else want to join me in Asheville and drive up to Blowing Rock?

I've never been, but some in my region who have speak very highly of the event. They'll keep you busy with events; not much sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. They used to have Bob Chapman (noted pro photog) give photo classes (get out before dawn for the early soft light), but he's not registered yet for this year. They usually have a costume dress-up night. Of course, the NC mountains in the area are beautiful, with many fun and scenic driving roads.

This area is my home so I drive these roads on a regular basis. It must be something seeing 80 Porsches driving down the road together. I'm guessing it's more of a scenic drive type get together than anything but I might be mistaken. Hwy. 221 between Linville and Blowing Rock is the most challenging road I know of and has been compared to the Dragon. Obviously, the Blue Ridge Parkway is the most scenic and breathtaking road.

A friend told me about this event. I have never owned a Boxster. I e-mailed the event to ask about this. I will post results.Caymans should count as the same.

I'll be happy to reach out to them tomorrow. I wouldn't mind participating myself, but with croctoberfest and that drive, I probably need to wait until next year. I would imagine they'll support us, but I'll let you know shortly

Unfortunately not the response that we had hoped for. Here is his reply ...

We're really at capacity now. The few Cayman owners we have are prior Boxster owners and have attended past events with their Boxsters.

If any of your folks are local, they're welcome to stop by Friday morning during our Show-n-Shine.

We'll also steer our Cayman folks over to Caymanclub.net. Great site!
