Very interested in learning the deal on tracking my Cayman S.
Hello everyone: I bought a 2006 Cayman S from Foreign Cars a few weeks ago and would like to talk with someone about doing a DE event with my car. Sorry for being so silly but I truly don't know much about the program but need to know basic stuff. Is it a learning experience or a driving experience. I just might get into this deal and would truly like to have someone to discuss the program...Don't want to act like a total Newbie my first time out.....Any advice is appreciated. I live in Greensboro
Get hold of the local PCA (Porsche Club of america) region. Try the regional directory on the national website for contact info, www.pca.org They will know what is going on in your area, and can steer you to info about Autocross, DE, etc. The website has most of the info.

This is a very classy website, all of you are truly on top of things and all seem very interested in helping with information. I think it comes with the level of the car.....appreciate all you help. I'm on my way to a DE and autocross event. Hope so meet some of you there. I have not registered yet, keep forgetting the ole vin number...
Go to trackschedule.com and click on any of the events at VIR, which is about one hour away from you (you lucky dog!). VIR is one of the premier tracks in the entire country, and far superior to Rockingham (which is also close to you), and Carolina Motorsports Park (which sucks majorly).
All of the clubs on trackschedule.com run good events at VIR. I'll be instructing there 3/31-4/1 (NASA), 4/7-8 (THSCC), 6/16-17 (MDA), 9/1-2 (MDA), 11/17-18 (Audi Club), and 12/8-9 (Chin). If you'd like to get me as your instructor just request it when you register for the event. I'll look forward to seeing you on track!
jsdone, you belong in the carolinas region PCA. http://www.carolinas-pca.com/ The events are considered a driving school. I attended a Tar Heel Sports Car Club (THSCC) event and it was great. It was definitely a low pressure and safe learning environment. Basically, you learn in the classroom, head out on the track with an instructor sitting next to you, back into the classroom, rinse & repeat.

There is a couple of driver educations offered by both the Hurricanes as well as the Carolinas region PCA Clubs. You might want to check out their websites http://www.carolinas-pca.com/ or http://hur.pca.org/
PS: we will have a "backroad driving event" from Raleigh to Winston-Salem this Saturday. Send me PM if you are interested to join the drive of just join us for Lunch at the OldSalemTavern (http://www.oldsalemtavern.com/) on Saturday... (you should see plenty of Porsches parked in front...)
Purchased my Cayman S also form Foreign Cars some month's ago and looking forward to join some of the NC events.. (Dragon as well as VIR...)
