Buying a used car -- need good independent shop for inspection -- Houston

Well, hopefully the title says it all.

I'm trying to buy a used SUV as a second vehicle, but obviously want to have a garage take a look at anything before I buy it. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with a good garage I can take it to.

I'll take all the reccommendations you guys have. I live on the west side (Westheimer and Beltway), but would like a list of garages in the event I want to look at a truck somewhere else so I dont' have to drive far (e.g. there's one I want to look at in Clear Lake this weekend).

Anyone have a shop they reccommend?

When I lived out in your neck of the wood, I always had a good experience at the Firestone on Dairy Ashford between I-10 and Memorial. It's actually just a few blocks south of I-10 but I can't remember the exact cross street. I felt they were an honest bunch of guys. However, I have not been there in a couple of years since I moved out to Sugar Land.

We have consistently excellent service from Poutous. It is a family run place a few blocks south of 59 and a block east of Kirby.
