Lone Star Region of the PCA is meeting at Hermann Park Zoo's parking lot, at 9:30am (10:00am departure - bring a full tank of gas) and then riding out to Cliftons-by-the-Sea near Kemah.
Full details:
Join LSR for a Meet-Drive-Eat-Drive from Herman Park in Houston (from a remote corner of the Houston Zoo Parking Lot off Golf Course Drive) to Cliftons by the Sea in Bacliff (just a little south of Kemah) for Sunday Brunch on Sunday (duh), August 5th. If you are new to Houston or a long time resident who hasn't had the opportunity to be impressed by the chemical and petroleum industries that call the east side of Houston home, now is your chance!
And in contrast to this side of our city, Cliftons is renowned for its Sunday Brunch and outstanding view of the sea (OK, Galveston Bay). There are several entrees to from which to make a selection and Brunch includes a complimentary Mimosa or Poinsettia.
We'll meet about 9:30 for a 10 am departure on the 50 mile trip and arrive about an hour later. Please arrive with a full tank of gas - this is not a grueling drive, but we want you with us all the way. And if you live down Kemah way already or can't otherwise make the rendezvous at Herman Park, join us at the restaurant for Brunch about 11:00 am.
IN ANY CASE, RSVP to Jim Heimer by Wednesday, August 1st, so that we can alert the restaurant.
Afterwards, we can head north for a circumnavigation of the San Jacinto Monument and a visit to the Battleship Texas before heading home.
RSVP buy August 1st to: lsrweb@earthlink.net (Jim Heimer) so they can tell Cliftons how many folks are comming.
Cliftons by the Sea
100 Grand Avenue
Bacliff, TX 77518
The LSR's PCA email is still buggy, so if you did not get this email, let Jim know as well.
Who is going??????

Unless something unusual occurs between now and then, I am planning
to be there.
Minus the GF -- she normally likes to go, but will pass this time.
I suspect it'll be top up and AC on, though. August in Houston, how odd, eh?
Best,
- Mark

Presumably a friend of mine will. He is brand new to Porsche and just
joined PCA two or three weeks ago.
He is Dillon Blake and he is the lucky one who bought my previous
Boxster. His wife's sister is getting married so the mother in law
and the wife's two sisters are having a hen party to plan the wedding
on Sunday, so I advised him that he has to get out of there at all costs.
Otherwise he will suffer an extreme case of estrogen poisoning!
The only thing is that he had left the car locked for a week or so and
it went into battery save mode. And apparently it's not an easy thing
to get it going again. You have to jump start it???
So I haven't heard if he has gotten that resolved yet, but it shouldn't
be all that hard to do, so unless he caves in to the wife (very bad precedent
to start doing that!), he should be there.
There are, I believe, some 38 cars signed up to go. Great turnout!
See you there...
- Mark

My wife and I had a great time. We need to get together like that more often.
Absolutely agree! What a turnout. 40+ people and about 30 cars; although not all of the cars showed up at Cliftons by the Sea. My wife and I both brought our P-Cars (you couldn't miss my wife's, it was the only SUV, and it's bright red).
Funny story, when we got to Cliftons, a guy that was driving a black 986 came up to my wife and thanked her for coming. He said that once we got on 225, and everyone was driving like mad (mostly the GT3's and Turbos) that the group broke up and all he had to do was keep track of the bright red SUV and he knew he was going the right way.
I forgot my camera so I hope that Swancoat posts some of the pictures he took.
