No, not signed up. But I might stop in to watch for a bit.
Would you remind me (and others) how to get there?
I know it's off Aldine something or other...
Mayhaps I will see you there...
- Mark
PS: I will be saving my tars for the DE the following weekend.

It's on Aldine Westfield, just off of Rankin Road. If memory serves me, you can take Rankin east from I45, then I think it's a left turn onto Aldine Westfield. Either way, you can see the academy when you get to the intersection or just follow the cars with numbers on them. Since it looks like I may be the only Caymanite out there, I'll probably be hanging with my friends from the MINI club. Those guys come out in droves for these.

Had a great time at the 'cross yesterday. It was really HOT and humid in the morning, but rain showers nearby (not on us) cooled the afternoon slightly. Met Jim, the LSPCA AutoX chairman, very nice and full of tips. The region's cross program pretty much died out this year due to lack of volunteers, I told him I will commit to pitching in to get us back on the calendar next year. He was driving a Boxster S with slicks, another couple both driving their brand new Boxster S, and one more guy in a base Boxster, made up my brethren. Jim was a couple seconds faster than me on his racing tires, but I managed to keep ahead of the other Porsches. My biggest personal accomplishment was beating all but one of the stock E46 M3's (and he had only one run faster than mine). I enjoyed my M3 when I had it, but there is no doubting that the Cayman is much more at home in the twisties. Met MarkinHouston who came to spectate, would like to see more of the Houstonians at the next one.

Great to meet you. For the rest of you, nearly all the guys in the Houston
Caymanclub.net group seem to be named "Scott."
So I had to be there just to break up all the Scottness.
Anyway, I enjoyed, kinda, sweating my a$$ off just watching. The HPD
course is a good one for that kind of event. Like all autocrosses, a tad
rough on tires, but that's just the way it goes.
I am saving my tires for the DE this weekend -- not particularly good on
tire life either, but it doesn't seem to grind them off quite so fast.
Y'all come on out to TWS this next weekend. If you haven't done a
DE, you are missing out on something special.
Again, great to meet you, Scott. By the way, there is another PCA
member who is a major biker like you are. He also has a black Cayman
but is recognizable by the bike racks he has fitted on the roof. He does
both mountain and road biking. Probably named Scott.
All the best,
- Mark

That would be Brian. We do haunt the same races.

Actually is was quite odd that none of the Cayman owners from Houston who attended Boxstoberfest were named "Scott"
as I was remarking on this unusual circumstance, who should appear but Scott from Houston. In this case Scott was driving a Boxster.
We did have Bill, Brian and Gary from Houston. and Brian's car is Basalt Black, very pretty in the sunlight. You can see his bike rack in the pics under the Crocfest thread.
Mark, are you going to the Concours at Haak Winery next month?

1. mtbscott -- you are right, I was thinking of Brian! I had the pleasure
of meeting and dining with him at the Clifton's on the Bay ride and
dine event.
2. Papa in Austin -- yes I am planning to be there. No worries for you,
however, as I am going to enter the display only category. That'll leave
an easy first place for you! (again!)
It's just too much fussiness for me. If I enter one for real, I think I will
just pull the engine out and detail it, put the car on a lift and wax the
control arms, 303 the undertray, etc. etc.
I hope to see lots of you all there...
- Mark
