There was an Air Force R&R base in the mountains of Baguio where I grew up and the buildings looked just like the Wawona.)

And the Tenaya Lodge just past it is a modern resort hotel - very nice and pretty reasonable, IIRC.

Wow, sounds like this will be a great time for everyone!

I've always wanted to see your neck of the woods and was thisclose to being relocated out there for work 12 years ago.

Mono Lake and the PCH are on my list of must do's...

Mono Lake is not far north of Mammoth. Rte 120 which goes from Yosemite over Tioga Pass to I-395 from whence you can head south to Mammoth is right at the south end of Lee Vining.

Lee Vining is the town closest to Mono Lake. The road to the south beach of Mono Lake is south of 120 by a few miles. The Mono Inn - no longer a hotel but now a pretty nice restaurant run by the grandchild of Ansel Adams (or was a few years back) - at the north end of town has a great view from one of the dining rooms.

PCH is at least 6 hours west of I-395.........out in grrlsix's neck of the woods.

great location

I was just in mammoth for the motocross in june. Was sorry i could not bring my new cayman. but kinda glad i did not after i got there. the pollen from the pine trees was devistating to cars parked outside . But the drive would be great from sf up through 120 and all. Its about a five hour drive from sf to mammoth . An thoughs of you who have not been there ,be verry carful at least down 395 to mammoth the chp lie in wait for speeders ! I hope I can take a break and smell the roses and make the trip, will need to find me some company for the drive ofcourse. If I may could i suggest a couple places in mammoth for meals . I always jones for a breakfast at the stove ,and like to stop at the mogel at least once for dinner when I am there. I saw a black cayman at starbuck on miniret when I was there anyone we know.IT would be nice to meet some of you,and since I cant seem to post pics always nice to show off car !

memyself and I,

This would be a great opportunity to "show off" your car and meet other Z-7 Cayman Club members. Their is a caravan coming across from the S.F. area, talk to grrlsix she is the ringleader and has all the scoop. You could join them.

The pollen is seasonal and lasts 4 to 6 weeks each year, since you were here in June, it has subsided or nonexistent. The Stove restaurant is literally 500 ft from The Mammoth Creek Park where we will show our cars.

The (basalt) black cayman at Starbucks, most likely mine, I'm a coffee junkie.

Hope you can join us.

Mark

Personally, I would lean towards the Westin. Looks like they have a good bar...

Best I was able to get was $179/night. Something called a "Summer Web Special" Now booked, let me know if they extend the group rate when you call them Monday.
