Need Help Installing Remote Key

Has anyone in the N. CA installed a Remote Key by Mods4cars.com on their Cayman?

I ordered a Remote Key and tried to install, but was unsuccessful. I need help, please.

After installation it did not work so I uninstalled it to go back to stock. But something went wrong and now I don't have any alarm or window control. Plus I have the air bag and System Fault warning lights on.

I contacted Mods4cars but have not had a response yet.

I bought one too with the plan of installing it once I got my hand out of the brace I was wearing at the time. Needless to say that didn't happen and now I've moved out here. Maybe we need to have an install party to see if someone can look at your problem and because my tool selection is very limited.

Sounds like you disconnected the airbag line while the car had electricity so it registered a fault, or didn't have the line back together when you reconnected the battery if you had it disconnected and again it registered a fault. Sounds like the door controller needs reset, if you call Mods4Cars support line they can walk you through it, not sure if they are open on weekends.

My first mistake was downloading the wrong instructions (v1.0) since the unit I received did not have any identification on the unit or on the invoice. I assumed (v2.0) with LED's did not apply since my unit had no visible LED's on it.

I did not discover my mistake until I had completed the first 13 steps of the (v1.0) installation. Then I realized I had no set screws to fasten down the wires on my unit.

I then tried to reverse the installation, as it was getting dark and the project had to be aborted for the night, however I accidentally reversed the yellow and black wire locations as shown in step 6. That prevented me from even starting the car. I went back into the module and changed the black wire with the yellow wire locations and the car started.

The next day I downloaded instructions v2.0 and reinstalled the remote key. However after the installation, the car did not chirp twice as proof that the installation was successful. I then uninstalled the unit again, leaving only the power tap clips in place.

The car now is:
1. Key Fob locks the passenger door with one chirp (even without the remote key in place?)
2. Driver door must be key locked and unlocked
3. Both windows do not work
4. Alarm button on central dash does not work
5. System fault light is ON
6. Airbag light is ON
7. Car starts and drives without any other problems

I'll pass this description along to Sven.

Stefan from Mods4cars.com held my hand via email and successfully corrected my problems and re-installed the remote key. Now all the functions work properly. All is well.

Thanks for your help Stefan.
