This weekend, I spotted four caymans in the SF/Bay Area.
One speed yellow, one silver, one black, and one that looked like blue. Including mine, that would be five caymans... All drivers waved andgave thumbs up, and justhad this'welcome to the club' smile!
in my city i hardly ever see another Cayman, i have see a red one in the last 2 weeks. Santa Barbara, CA is filled with Carreras, Cayennes, Boxsters, but very few Caymans.
There are two sides to this issue: More Caymans indicates more popularity and perhaps better resale value (up to a point). But then less 'exclusive'--and more likely driven by posers not drivers.
Since I'm never selling mine , I would prefer the latter.
The blue one was saturday(maybe sunday) heading south on 101 while i was heading to SF
And I don't know much about Santa Barbara, but I was in Beverly Hills two weekends ago and I saw plenty of carreras, and only one cyaman in white with what looked like terracota interior.... Did not see any other high perf car on HWY 5 both going and returning from LA. My Cayman got lots of stares...
what kind of gray? if you mean basalt black dark kind of gray and the car has no front or rear license plate (just tow hooks front and rear), that would be me.

I live in mt view but have been commuting to fremont about 3x a week and I haven't seen a cayman in over a month, not even a base one. I've only seen 4 all year.
I was trying to estimate the number of caymans in the area. I assume that the 6 porsche dealerships (carlsen, sc, oakland, fremont, burlingame, mill valley) in the bay area have on average moved around 7 units per month since Jan. That puts the total around 378...
