Who has installed the front license plate on their Cayman's?
I haven't gotten around to installing my plates at all.. the authorities seams to not care around here. I've seen cars driving around for months with dealer plates on them.
But my main question is: Has anyone here been pulled over and ticketed for just having the rear plate installed?
ps. the plates I got in the mail start with 6BMW... someone was being funny
I was ticketed last year in Palo Alto, my youngest son last year in Cupertino and my middle son this year ON CAMPUS by CAMPUS POLICE at UC San Diego....Put it on...CA police depts use it as "fund raising"...great revenue source. YMMV

Still in the front truck, but around LA you will get a tix. I got a front plate tix in LAX dropping off my in-laws in other car. But so far on the Boxster & Cayman S I have been clear.

i put the tow hook plate holder on if i know i will be parking in town - San Francisco meter maids are very efficient around my office and $100 ticket later i have learned my lesson.
if i am going on a trip, i keep it in the front boot, at least this way it is just a $10 fix-it ticket.

Get the mower deck plate holder from our sponsor. (tow hook hole mount) I have found that the slight angle of the mount keeps the lines of the front of the car nice and tidy.
I leave it on, despite my plan to have it ready under the bonnet for a quick, "Gee officer...I must have forgotten to put it back on after my track day...here it is...I can put it back right now...sorry for the trouble."
I haved lived in New York, and Texas, and have been "warned" about not having a front plate. In my case and others I have have heard about, the plate problem was not the primary reason we were pulled over, and we would not have been stopped if the plate was the sole infraction. I don't like front plates on my sports cars, they're unsightly, un- aerodynamic and UN-AMERICAN. I explained to the officer that one of my cars was damaged in a carwash because of the plate (true story) and still plan not to ever install one. I send 'em back to the local prison for re-stamping, thereby saving precious resources. There, I feel better now. Nothing like a good rant to set a fellow straight......

I'm from North Carolina so it isn't an issue but I have a friend in Palo Alto who does not have a front plate on his GT3. He hasn't gotten a ticket yet.

grrlsix,
Huh....Whats a front boot? . Does my Cayman have one ?
i've had my CS since june and have the dealer plate on the back and no plate and the dealer sticker on the window. been pulled over once since, they said nothing about it. it's going to be one pissed off cop that stops me once i reach a year with no plates. LOL. but hey, its a 10$ fix it ticket if they do and the car looks new as the day i bought it.
